Folks, I'm trying to connect a brand new Moto G to the internet for a relative.

I've entered the wifi password and it seems connected but then when I try to open chrome or sync a gmail account it says:

    'Authentication Problem'

I've rebooted the router but the 'Authentication Problem' persists. Have others had this problem and if they have how did they solve it?

That, not only seems pretty **** but also pointless. I've never heard of this before.
Just the way it is. There are a bunch of Xposed modules that can remove the carrier. Xposed is just the same of the program that can make these tweaks through the plugins.

I havent found anything that can remove the Carrier Text from the status bar on my Moto G. You think "3" is annoying? Try "O2-IRL".

The app linked above cant hide it on phones running KitKat (yet).

Get the Moto X carrier module on Xposed's download list. Works perfectly for me.

I have. I've tried lots of things and just can't solve this issue. It's going back to the shop tomorrow.

There is no Notification Carrier Name on my US retail KK ROM....

it's on the lock screen, very discreet!!

Hold the power + volume down buttons simultaneously, then upload them!

Lads, the missus has this phone and loves it.
The only problem is the lack of earphones it came with.
Can anyone link me to any recommended earphones, preferably with the mouthpiece part for handsfree calls?
    Thanks.

Out of curiosity, what's that app you've got running in your tray?

Bought a set of these for my Nexus after they came recommended on XDA forums, they feel very premium and the sound and call quality are great, the inline buttons are a bonus too.

They look good but that retailer won't post them to Ireland according to Amazon.

They look good but the description says they work for Sony Xperia's only. You've reminded me about XDA though, they have an "Accessories" section. I'll have a look on there. Cheers.

Its just one button that's xperia only, but you can use an app to map The buttons to what you want. They work perfect out of the box. Great sound too, I'm gonna try a set of Sol Republic that they sell on the moto site in the US. Just need to find a seller.

So my Moto G has developed 2 problems in the last few days. Firstly the headphone jack has become unreliable and doesn't always work. Then this morning when my alarm went off the phone started vibrating....and did not stop vibrating until 4pm today. Now it's as dead as a door nail. When I plug it in it starts vibrating again!

I've totally babied this phone. It has spent most of its life in an Otterbox Commuter. Has anyone returned one of these to Amazon?

Is there any possibility that your gf or wife installed an app that keeps the vibrator on permanently for um...............well,.........you know.....

    ;)

    :p

Damn. Was hoping to get some next week.

Groupon currently has a deal on for 3 pairs of headphones for 12.99.

They've no mic/buttons, but they'd be handy enough to have as backups.

I was under the impression that its a hardware limitation of the phone that it could only handle one button?

Has anyone found a fix for the glitch that came with the Kitkat update that causes the phone to lose it's network connection?
I have found a fix for the battery draining problem but can't find one for this.

    http://www.technobuffalo.com/2014/04/18/specs-for-cheaper-version-of-moto-g-leaked/

When Motorola revealed the Moto G it completely changed our perception of what a budget smartphone could be. Now it looks like the company may be gearing up to offer an even cheaper handset. A new Motorola device was recently spotted by Brazilian site Tecnoblog after passing through Anatel (the country’s FCC equivalent) to reveal a list of specs for the upcoming device...

    There is more.

Um... hope they decide to add a TF slot... 4GB of ROM means probably half a gig of usable memory once Android removes its proverbial pound of flesh... :o

Anyone using ES File Explorer to transfer files between the Moto G and a Windows machine?

I'm getting very slow transfer speeds when copying from Android to windows - 500 - 700KB/s

Tried turning off battery saver and "WiFi Optimization" in advanced settings.

    Anyone have any ideas?

Both devices are getting a strong
WiFi signal so should be getting close to 150Mb speeds.

Screen has developed a colour leakage fault :(. Got it from Tesco Direct, spent almost an hour including waiting time on phone to them only to get cut off gggrrrrr. They don’t send their collection package to Ireland and put me through to Tesco Irl... Going to call them again and use parcel motel address I think. But thought of waiting another hour and then reading and re reading out the address is putting me off.....
