Don't see why Buttner would be let go. He has looked decent when given a chance. The others fair enough.

Missed Kagawa. I'd be keeping him for sure.

Moyes could probably secure Ben Arfa in a straight swap deal for Nani or Young.

Ya he was far from a pioneer :)

No game this weekend so no harm in a bit of a blow out.

We have signed a new Serbian
Manchester United Football Club has today announced a four-year sponsorship deal with Serbian bank Eurobank.

The new agreement, a first of its kind in the Balkans, means Eurobank has been granted exclusive rights to offer the official Manchester United credit card to the club’s 1.2 million followers in Serbia.

Bit of mis-communication on the initial debate. I was emphasizing why I believed he played well on Wednesday night but not in particular reference to where he was positioned. I have a feeling on Wednesday it was more of a roaming role even though he played on the right as he drifted inside on several occasions.

In the long term I agree that Kagawa should play a central role with Mata and I am hoping that with a decent signing in the summer a 3 man attacking midfield would be a solid option, but we need to have more than 1 option.

I think playing Mata & Kagawa on the wing is the 2nd choice.

I presume you meant to say left instead of right. I agree he drifted inside from that wide position when we had the ball. If you want to call that a roaming role, fair enough. My point is he defended wide left and I think he wasn't effective enough when we were attacking because of the extra ground he had to make up. You, and a lot of other people, think differently.

With regards to Mata and Kagawa playing together centrally, unless one of them drops back to central midfield I don't see how that's going to happen.

Kevin Keegan could find a way for it to work.

    Keegan > Moyes

Aaron Lennon, Tom Huddlestone, Ben Arfa, Ross Barkley and Lallana are all very likely on the Moyes Midfield Shopping List

    More pearls of wisdom.

    Evra - gone
    Vidic - gone
    Ferdinand - gone
    Giggs - retiring
Anderson - on loan, but doesn't look like he wants to come back
Buttner - Moyes tried to ship him out on loan before the Contreao deal fell through, so wouldn't be suprised.
Nani - talks from his agent that he is looking to leave
Young - on very high wages so would be suprised if anyone could match them
Kagawa - I don't think so, looks to be enjoying his football again with Mata
Cleverly - I'd be suprised, as bad as he has been, he'd be an alright squad player. Would imagine he is on high wages too.

    Yes typo, I meant Left.
When he did have the ball he proved his effectiveness.
I agree having to double up limited him somewhat but the reason for this was for him having to cover for Patrice Evra. If Buttner had played he would have been much more disciplined allowing Kagawa to stay further forward.

Would work as part of a 4-2-3-1 or Five man midfield
    Mata (New Midfielder) & Kagawa

    Evra - 3.5m
    Vidic - 3.5m
    Rio - 0m
    Giggs - 0m
    Big Ando - 2m
    Buttner - 3.5m
    Nani -9m
    Young - 8m
    Cleverly - 4.5m

thats 34m. almost enough to buy Kroos

You'd have to wonder where you're getting these figures from. Vidic is leaving on a free, as will Evra and Rio.

Anderson, we'd get at least £5mil for.
Cleverley, due to him being English, would get close to £10mil.
Young and Nani would also be the £10 mil mark.

This constant babble that comes out from you is getting tiring. We've never been linked with Huddlestone or Ben Arfa. It was some crap paper that said we were linked to Lennon. Barkley and Lallana play the exact same position.
I'm merely speculating that instead of Kroos / Reus / Carvalho / Ronaldo, that the shopping list very possibly has more of a domestic flavour to it

What exactly do you mean by a domestic flavour? Is it because they all play in the EPL?
Moyes could probably secure Ben Arfa in a straight swap deal for Nani or Young.

This, I have no words for.

He's very anti-manchester united for a manchester united fan.

I'd agree mostly with your valuations.
The fees actually arent as important as thew wages these guys are on.

Just can't see it from a squad management point of view.

Evra is very likely to leave, imo - so selling Buttner as well means we have to sign two left backs in the summer.
Selling Young, Nani AND Kagawa leaves us short in attacking midfield/wing area so I think one of them will stay - I would say Young most likely.
    Also think Cleverley will stay.

    My 'outs' would be:

    Lindegaard
    Evra
    Ferdinand
    Vidic
    Anderson
    Giggs
    Nani
    Kagawa
    Hernandez

Leaves us needing a left back, at least one centre back, a right back, two central midfielders, a winger - maybe a striker.

Players at the club that possibly come into contention - Amos, Michael Keane, Powell.

Club also needs to have a think about Will Keane, James Wilson and Henriquez up front, with regards to bringing any new striker in.

I'd be selling Welback if we were getting anything over 15m for him.
if he has a good WC there'll be international interest.
PSG for example would love to have a big english name amongst their ranks.

ya its unlikely we'll be signing ben arfa (hopefully)
my point was, and perhaps it was exaggerated a little, that this is the calibre of player Moyes is potentially looking at right now - as opposed to a top quality suite involving Kroos, Reus, Ronaldo.

When you play counter attacking football and let the opposition dominate the possession your wide midfielder has to get back close to your full-back to defend. Your wide midfielder always has to double up with his full-back in that situation. It doesn't matter how good your full-back is at defending, he's still not going be able to defend without his wide man doubling up with him.

I disagree that Kagawa was effective enough when we had possession.

In the 3 of a 4231, when you are defending, there is one player central and two wide (it's nearly always indistinguishable from a 442 when defending). So one of Mata or Kagawa would have to defend wide and play from there when possession was regained. They can drift in when the team have possession if you want, all three players can swap around positions during the game if you want, but two of those three have to get back to help our full-backs every time the team are defending. That is what I am talking about. Kagawa and Mata are not suited to the running up and down the pitch every time possession changes hands.

I heard he had scouts at a few Ulster Senior League games last weekend. I'd imagine that's more the calibre of players he's interested in cos I have no clue wtf I'm talking about.

How much does it cost to set up your own T-Shirt design business? You would need to send me that amount, then wait until I get off the ground, then you can buy the Neville one for $39.99 USD.

Actually, no, considering you are giving me enough money to start my own business, I'll send you a Neville T-Shirt free of charge. ;)

And **** it, a 10% discount for all Boards.ie United Superthread posters! Just use the discount code: MATAGAWA at the fictional checkout of my fictional t-shirt company, soon to be fictional t-shirt empire.

I want the Berbatov one, immediately.

And defo have a friend who would spunk his bucket at that Ronaldo one

Jamie Jackson with the first of the articles saying United don't think Kroos is likely and that they fear getting the players they want will be difficult - due to the transfer climate and no cl.

Going to be a long fecking summer.

Nobody can be surprised that we have no hope of getting Kroos.

    It was never realistic.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, no one will go near Young with the wages he is on. He'll be here next season.
