I was sitting with my workmates at dinner. There are four of us, two boys and two girls. We were having a discussion about relationships. One of the girls Megan, took out her phone and started showing pictures of her friends from back home.

The other guy beside me, Jay, who is gay, said to Megan that he thought she was more beautiful than her friend or ''I think you are more beautiful than her''.

So I mockingly said to her that I also thought she was more beautiful than her friend.

Is this guy for real? Does he think he can make remarks like this just because he's gay?

If a straight guy made the same remark to a girl whom he only knew for 3 or fours days I think that would be interpreted as coming onto her. This guy Jay, just because he's gay thinks he can say what he wants because obviously he would have no 'intentions' or so he thinks.

What do you guys think? I don't have anything against gay people, but this guy is using his gayness as a veil to get what he wants.

"just because he's gay thinks he can say what he wants "
    You have some issues there

"Say what he wants" - it was a compliment...
it's not like he was saying something explicit or heavy

Outrageous. Who does he think he is, complimenting a woman?

But you said the same to her yourself afterwards! Are you mad that he beat you to it? Do you fancy Megan, OP?

No, I don't think what he said was bad at all.

I think you mocking him was worst

Gay guys are only pretending to be gay in order to get women? Well holy God.

Or maybe he just paid her a compliment and you are talking out of your hoop.

I get the feeling there is some undercurrent to this story that the OP left out.

A lot of outrage over very little, with the standard disclaimer thrown in. Bad signs usually.

Because he's an utter dueche. All four of us were given ice cream for desert. I offered mine to everybody but nobody wanted it including 'Jay'. 5 minutes later when he is half way through his ice cream he reaches over and literally grabs mine and says nothing.

And I said 'oh your welcome'.

He's a "nice guy" who wants her but is afraid to speak up so he gets angry when someone else does and accuses them mentally of having ulterior motives.
    Hang in there, OP...

    Georgie Porgie, Puddin' and Pie,
Kissed the girls and made them cry,
When the boys came out to play
    Georgie Porgie ran away

He gave someone a compliment, not sure there's anything sinister about that. It's a workmate and he may not mean it and might be just be trying to make an effort to be liked.

    Nothing wrong with that.

Only the gay ones. Well, not the gay ones, but the ones pretending to be gay. Well, not them either, just the ones pretending to be gay so they can get girls. Actually, no, just the ones pretending to be gay so they can get girls the OP wants. It's an awfully specific prejudice.

I have to say I never saw the icecream move coming.

To be fair, this changes everything ... stealing your woman is one thing, but stealing your ice cream??!!

If he was straight there would be an assumption that he's obviously trying it on. Seeing as this isn't the case he's either just being genuinely complimentary or one of those people that uses 'compliments' as a way of getting people to like them.

And what about your ice cream? I'd say we're getting to the heart of the matter now. Keep it coming OP.

Retarded thing for him to say. "You're more beautiful than your friend", what age is he?

    Avoid this Jay.
