This is wrong but as long as the bank refund immediately any future debits taken by eircon they are doing their bit and meeting their obligations.

What customers must remember is they must tell eircon that they have cancelled the direct debit.

    love the typo....

    life is too short.

I had same issues with BofI Visa.
Since January there was no DD going out and and each month I rang them to tell them they haven't taken payment, the money was waiting for them but they never requested the payment. They said it was a 'glitch' due to SEPA change over and that it was sorted.

The first month they closed my account and I had to pay them by transfer to 3rd party, get the account re-opened and they charged me for the interest on purchases for the laughs as well! The interest wasn't refunded until the following bill as they needed the loan of a few euros for a month

The second month I had to pay by transfer again and the following month the payment showed up in my current account as a cheque payment?! Each time I was told that it had now been rectified and the DD was ready to go.
Finally this month's payment went out by DD!

AXA now having the same issues. I note that they are blaming their bank too.
I don't understand how all these companies were not ready for this??

"THOUSANDS of home and motor insurance customers of Axa have missed payments after the company failed to collect direct debits.
The insurer has admitted the mistake has now happened twice and is blaming their bank for the error.

They have claimed that their bank has yet to get their systems set up to deal with changes to direct debit payments from the new EU-wide single euro payments area (Sepa) initiative."

Amazing ! Does anyone ever accept responsibility? It was the Bank's fault ?

Recently renewed my health insurance with Aviva, then I got a letter confirming my policy was cancelled. Rang Aviva who confirmed it was a computer fault. I subsequently received a letter from Aviva confirming the error and if I had any issue to take it up with the Insurance Ombudsman !

Between Bank problems and Computer errors it is amazing how our economy functions at all.

Surely someone is responsible for these fcuk ups? Does anyone walk the plank?

I doubt they did it on purpose to annoy you, why would anyone "walk the plank".

    Agree Fred.

People get paid enough to accept responsibility which goes with their job.
If they cannot accept responsibility for their failures or actions they should step down.
Of course this would not happen in Ireland
