Kia Sportage v Hyundai ix35

My wife is looking to get rid of her 2009 Passat (petrol) for either a Kia Sportage or a Hyundai ix35. She does a lot more mileage now then when she bought the Passat so diesel would make sense.

Does anyone have experience of either of them and would recommend anything in particular. She's looking for maybe 2012 - New.

I'm leaning towards the Kia but I will rarely be driving it so doesn't really bother me either way.

    Any advice?

    They're exactly the same car.

Why does she want a crossover? Why not just a diesel saloon/hatchback?

My only guess is that it's because she's a woman.

Our second child due soon so need something with a bit of space in it.
I have a diesel saloon so she wants something different.

Mechanically they are the same, the Kia is easier on the eye and came with a longer warranty. Both got a mid life refresh recently. I'd get her to test drive both and maybe a Qashqai as women tend to like them too.

The Kia is €1500 more, the Hyundai is much more popular

What about a Skoda Superb? Buckets of room for 2 kids and will be more economical than both the Kia and Hyundai?

Not a bad call. Will suggest that for a test drive.
She's fairly set on either the Kia or the Hyundai but I will ask her to have a look anyway.

If it was me, I'd pick the Kia. Definitely way nicer looks wise and there aren't as many about. Looks smashing in gold/brown!
