Anyone else suffering from dog attacks on sheep this year. Just in from an awful chase of it. Tis an unfortunate business.

Jesus ye should listen to Newstalk breakfast. Duncan lost the plot in a big way a little while ago, it might be on their player later on. He's stepping down from EcoEye.

Terrible case of it around here yesterday - 2 dogs got several lambs and there's still 20 ewes missing. They got 1 of the dogs - a big lab, and put a bullet in him. He is neutered so it is quite likely that he is chipped too - they will know today. The other fecker got away, but I'm sure he will be back.

No major dog problem around here in a few years - shooting on site and making it public is a good deterrant. No point in taking prisoners when it comes to dogs and sheep!

Well he's stepping down due to climate change coverage. But, he threw a rather major tantrum over how much time he'd have to speak on NT Breakfast.

His farming coverage was far better than anything else I've seen on TV.

Got one of um and one got away and the other lad took off over the road lifting so I followed him in the jeep. He lead me all the way home to his owners place. Who's a real awkward fecked. Going up to him shortly with the trailer and his victims inside in it.
Maybe that will show the ower how serious it is. Happened last year with the same man and it looks like the same dog.
He denied it down to the ground that time saying that his dog was inside all night.
And if anyone harmed his dog he'd call the gards. He'll have a pile of dead sheep and lambs on his front door if he tries to pull the same ****e this year.

Talk to the guards before you talk to him. We have the guards on our side - all local sheep farmers have met them and we have been told to shoot if necessary and that they will back us up within the law!

Was talking to a fella earlier that finishes small numbers of bullocks.

He was telling me that Goodman has contract rearears bringing on sucks for him. Huge numbers of sucks being talked about more than 10,000

I just couldn't see this being the case ?
Surely it would be more widely known if a move like this was going on. It would be a very worrying move if it were.

Heard this story a month ago. He has purchassed a load of them. He also is supposed to be building his own feed mill somewhere in Tipp/carlow/Kilkenney. From a buisness perceptive it makes complete sence. Last Sept/Oct and again this Fed/Mar he bought a load of forwatd stores in the case of last fall over 10K(have heard figure of 15K+) but paid through the nose for them.

The lads that reared calves for the veal units/young bull project may be the lads rearing them. It will not matter if the cost him a bit extra to rear he can use them to control supply. It means that Sept/Oct2015 and Spring 2016 he will only require 50% of this years buy at the mart so easier to source and lads around the ring have less ability ti bull prices in him.

If Beef prices are high these calves turn a profit, if prices are poor he can use to further drop prices. On the stock exchange it would be considered insider trading and be considered anti-compeditive.

Just after listening to Duncan there and in all fairness he does have a good point and I hope he does stand for Europe, I certainly would vote for him.

Surely were nearing a junction in the beef supply chain. Once we go down the route of these factory farms there is no place for regular suppliers and traditional methods. Out would spell out a poor future for beef farmers if the processors are allowed to manipulate supply like this.
Do the factories run such factory farms in the UK to control the market ??
