100k return or one way? One way will mean taking a huge detour in completely opposite direction but if you mean return then head for Ramelton, Rathmullan, Port Salon and around the Coast to Downings but beware there are quite a few long climbs on that route.

Alternatively letterkenny to Milford and onto Kerrykeel/Downings is less hilly and more direct.

100k return. Don't mind a few hills. Looks scenic :) Hopefully the weather is nice

If you want challenging and scenic, try heading out by Kilmacrennan and just out the other side of the village, turn right for Lough Salt. There is a tough climb along this road but riding along Lough Salt and down the other side is great on a nice day. You can see right over Downings.

You drop down through Glen and then on to Downing. Be sure to map it on your computer as there is a junction on the road up to Lough Salt that is easily missed. Be sure to try and include Atlantic drive around the Downings peninsula if it is within your distance.

Personally I don't like the Ramelton-Milford-Downings road as there is no hard shoulder and can be quite busy. I hate traffic sitting behind me and much prefer the quiet backroads.

Actually combining this with the Rathmullan-Portsalon route would make for a great day out but I am sure it would be well over 100k distance wise.

That's a blast from the past for me. The last time I was up there on a bike was the summer of 1984! :)
