Great trade in Tullamore today. Both FR bullocks were sold. One was 590kgs made €1000 and the other was 560kg and made €1100. Bloody chuffed I am.

Well done. That is a very good price in fairness considering current beef price. They were two nice bullocks in pictures.

They will come into big weight off the grass.

Maybe you were better off getting rid. Especially at those prices.

Was expecting around 800 each so couldn't wait for the hammer to drop at them prices. Glad they are gone in fairness as they were the last of the last stock. Out wintering does pay off it seems :D

    Feet spinner needs new veins.
Two big holes in two of them after spreading today.
Father reckons we've spread 500 tonne with them.
    Would that be the norm?

Didn't spare the meal and they had 15 acres to run around in over the winter

A load of stone 22-23 tonne should do about 100m

Cube it up. 1 cubic metre is 2 tonne of stone.

Had a good chat with a department vet one day about it actually. They reckoned that where the had seen big outbreaks in our area was mainly down to cattle drinking out of ****ty holes where infected badgers were also going and dying. In other words badger proof you drinking troughs and fence off the ****ty holes is what they were saying.

No argument with any of that. We were told by the guys who do the culling in this area that if you have a badger set and no tb you are better off leaving them alone as if you take them out you don't know what sort of a crew could move in and what disease status they will have. If you have no problem the group you have are healthy and are the best deterrent to a diseased crew coming into your area.

I only see it there now. I suppose the pics are a bit bigger but if ya liked the old way you can select which view suits ya, grid or list.

Makes sense. Picture and price. The two most important things IMO. It's easy read the detail then afterwards

There's two buttons above the ads to change from new grid view to old list view. I like the old list view as I find it easier to scan down the page.

Except there's a concerted effort in this country to put the self employed out of business

By the same token, if you have a serious breakdown and they are the cause, time to take them out. We were wiped out in 86 and dug out all the burrows so there was nothing to attract a new crew. Only returned to dig new burrows about five years ago. Were totally cleared out again a year ago. So don't expect muchsympathy here for Brock.
