Not the first time there's been joyriding in trinity. Some loons went on the rampage in 2006 if I remember correctly, taking out a load of fencing near the pav.

So, any news as to his motive? What motivates a 68 year old man to turn up the radio and go on a rampage through Trinity and central Dublin??

Well presumably he hadn't taken a few E's and was raging against Imperialism or something lol. It's quite bizarre. A rebel at nearly 70? There's time for me yet!! :pac:

The way i heard it he was a retired staff memebr who took umbrage at losing his parking permit...just hearsay but it's a possibility.

Is anyone else puzzled by the thread title? Grand Theft Trinity. It's an allusion to a game (which itself is a reference to a type of crime), but with the only relevant part - "Auto" - replaced with Trinity!

I do so hope it was purposely nonsensical!

I think it has to be meth, they said it was going to hit Ireland eventually, and we didn't listen! On the plus side, judging by this guy it seems like we got the blue stuff.

I actually prefer it! I thought the other doors were so pretentious.

Cabra Taximan released without charge (except the one he made for the gate!)

Where are you getting taximan from? Nothing in the article at the moment says that, but it may have been edited since you posted it.

Jesus, if he's a taxi driver and allowed go back to driving people around after this... The other papers are saying he's a retired publican though.

Publican or Republican? Because, if the latter, it would explain a lot.

Is that like a publican that lost the pub but then got it back again?

No charge? I thought reckless driving was illegal? If this had happened a few hours later he could have killed a few students.

I imagine they couldn't charge him as he wasn't making sense probably. I don't think you can charge someone with something when they are not in a position to understand the charges.

    Maybe a guard/solicitor might clarify?

What was he playing? Beethoven? Britney?

Amii Stewart, knock on wood apparently. And the Doors, break on through to the other side.

I think strains of "Drive" by the Cars were also heard.

Are you serious? The old doors were beautiful and had been there 200 years :(

I agree, I think we should replace them with some doorway beads

If he is a taxi driver, he knows a very direct handy route to Trinity
