I wouldn't be surprised if these doors are quietly replaced or refurbished every 20 years or so...

Sure it's that what they do with trees like?

Those doors are solid oak...they are very well looked after and have been in situ for 200 years.

The doors on Georgian buildings are also oak and they do not rot.

    Stupid statement really.

    Pretty harsh

Jesus, what do you have to do to get the book thrown at you in this country?

Released without charge and suspected of mental health issues?

FFS he could have killed someone! He should be kept locked up as he is in no fit state to be allowed into normal society unchecked.

    Dara O Briain in 2006:

There are three states of legality in Irish law. There is all this stuff here under "That's grand"; then it moves into "Ah, now, don't push it"; and finally to "Right! You're taking the piss." And that's where the police sweep in.

Why did they release him?? Even if he has mental health issues he can still be convicted and get the help he needs through the justice system. What if he kills a few pedestrians next time?

I've heard of people banned from driving for less, something like that would be what I'd expect minimum!

Regardless of his motivations or mental condition, had he done that during the afternoon when students were up and out of thier bedsits he could've created carnage.

I'd actually have been surprised had he been charged - pity all the do-gooders in our state were as concerned about the actual victims of crime and THER rights- horrible act of petty vandalism and he should have had the book thrown at him , apart from the fact he could have maimed many innocent victims.

Well, it is where Trinity College is.

Couldn't really say he drove into Trinity College's gates in Azerbaijan.

Could have been the one in Hartford, Connecticut... Or the one in Florida.

Had it happened in either of those two, he'd have been taken out... and not for a nice meal either.

Or Oxford. But, for the sake of this discussion, it was Trinity College Dublin. :)
