Anyone know the thermal limit for FX 6300? is it about 61 under load, hovering about 51 at load at the moment with my 212 EVO installed and OC to 4.4GHZ

What happens if I have a GPU in the PCI slot but no power connected to it from the PSU?

Low end gpus can run off the power of a PCI slot, most wont.

Nothing should happen really, just wont get any signal from the gpu if you connect it to a monitor.

If you have an igp you should still be able to get a signal from the motherboard

One card I had just notified me at the desktop that the cable wasn't plugged in and iirc, it underclocked itself to keep it in a lower power window.

Thanks guys. Finished my first build. The cx600m is missing two of the modular cables so I can't hook up the graphics card. Google reckons I could use 4pin molex to 6pin PCI for the GPU. Some places suggesting this might be a bad idea because of the different wattage they are for. Anyone able to shed some light on this or even a handy place to get cables to fit the corsair PSU?
    Thanks again everone.

Strange that it's missing cables. Or have you used them all? What do you need for your GPU?

Sorry I should have said, I got it 2nd hand.
Although I presumed it had all cables.

Ah I see, so you ust need on PCI-E 6 pin cable? Have a look on adverts for anyone selling one also PC world.

I may have a spare one that you could have. Wont know until later though

Looks like it's a single rail PSU, so you could probably get away with adapters. However, what's on paper isn't always how it's designed as there can be additional safety features. I haven't seen anywhere that sells modular cables cheap, but you can buy an entire bundle from scan for ax series which should be still compatible. Probably costs as much as you paid for the PSU though.

Why not take the opportunity to buy some lovely sleeved cables and do some prettying up inside your case

I would love to but after just building it all I really want is for the parts to work.

Anyone have any info about the NZXT Hue together with the Fractal Design Define R4 case?
Does it really got in the way of the door closing? I dont mind it pushing into the foam on the back of the door but would hate it if the door wouldn't close properly?

Can you not contact the seller? Maybe it was an oversight,id definitely looking for some comeback on that,if the cables were not included its not as advertised, might be worth a shot

Doing a build for my brother soon and he just rang to tell me he tried to order from the Hardwareversdand.de site earlier and had a problem. Apparently he selected the PayPal option and couldn't proceed any further because it wasn't allowed. So I thought I'd run this past some of you regulars here.

He said the order was for around €1900 ish, first time he said he's ever had a problem using his PayPal account online. So is there a limit to first time orders from this site and should he keep under it? I've never used them myself because of their infamous customer service. So I suggested he forgets about them, breaks the order up and just orders from a couple of different sites.

Nothing wrong with the customer service once you get a hold of them. Ring them , and just say you'll do a bank transfer. ez pz

Whenever I myself am buying, I usually get my kit from OCer's UK, Kustompcs or Computeruniverse.net and have never used the Hardwareversand site.

Cheers, I told him already about the bank transfer option but I can't see him doing that. He thinks there might be a certain € limit on ordering via PayPal with them for the first time. So I thought I'd run that past some wise heads in here who might know.

The bank transfer option is quite handy really, first time i had to do it i brought all the details to the bank in person and they filled out the relevant documents and made the payment. Since then ive done it online myself which is so handy. Avoids the 3% paypal charge as well.

Another thing is hwvs are on a price comparison site in germany, geizhals.de,and on a build with a budget as high as yours theres decent savings to be made by putting all the parts through it.Worth the extra bit of hassle to go with hardwareversand imo

H440 came today. Can't transfer build till Friday though :(
Its smaller in person that I'd though, hard to believe all it supports. It weighs a TON considering the size. Overclockers sent me a bag if haribo with my order. Thought that was hella cute :D

Cheers, I told him about that 3% PayPal charge before but he seems adamant to go with PayPal for some reason. Feel free to PM those bank transfers details if you wish and I'll pass them along.

If you bring the order through to checkout and select "Prepayment" as your payment option and place the order you will get an email confirmation of the order(usually within 24hrs) and that email will have all the payment details on it.

Print a copy of that and bring to bank amd they should be able to do it all for you, hope that helps

I did contact him. He thought they were all there. Said he would have a look for them and would email corsair to see about a replacement.
Said I could use molex to Pci-e connectors to hook it up for now but tbh I'm not even sure what I need.
Sapphire say "2X75 Watt 6-pin PCI Express power connector is required".
I only have 2 modular cables (out of what seems like it should have been 8) one has all Sata connections the other has a few molex. Everything is up and running now nicely with the build but Im pretty annoyed I have no GPU ready to go

Where could a lad find a GTX 670, preferably a Direct CU 2 for reasonable money these days?

Microsoft is giving away free licenses to manufacturers of devices under 9''.

    http://vr-zone.com/articles/microsoft-giving-away-windows-free-devices-9-inches-start-menu-making-way-windows-8-1/75250.html

We'll be seeing more 8'' Windows tablets now I imagine. With bay trail, they're fairly powerful and run the bulk of programs not needing traditional input devices. I'd take one over android and apple any day. Some stiff competition edging in here.
