Women who are Catholics that deny the Church promotes discrimination towards women are clearly suffering from Stockholm Syndrome.

It's not semantics- gender refers to social construction and sex to biological pre determination.

boys tend to be bigger and stronger, calling a boy big and strong is not wrong; dress him in pink or be afraid to call him anything if you wish but social constuction is not just some random arbitrary thing that comes around for the fun of it, a large part of it is based on biological realties hence gender is interwined with sex hence this is semantics

Serious dagger eyes being thrown in that audience ..

I now understand why people in general do not vote for female candidates, even women in their electoral area will chose a male candidate. Remember blondie driving over the plinth on her first day.

Oh yes men have served us so well - Cowen, Ahern et al. But a woman driving off a path because it was her first day grabs headlines.

In private companies, where salaries are kept confidential, women are paid less than their male counterparts.

the argument that a woman td is needed to represent women is ludicrous

our political system is parochial to the point of being almost incestuous, the vast vast majority, be it men or woman do not represent the electorate of Ireland, men and women rather they represent the petty self-interests of their local communities

If they are confidential, how do you know they are being paid less?

If there was a man in the audience tonight, he'd be lynched before the end of tonight's programme.

They'd make him build the gallows first though and secure a good knot in the noose.

Something ironic about a convention calling for more protection for women being signed in a muslim country.

A lot of men think that because the laws have changed and women can't be discriminated against, that they should shut up.
