English regulations about gas installation in Ireland?

    I plan to have a gas stove installed and the installer said he cannot install it on a wooden floor because although Irish regulation doesn't prevent it, because the stove was shipped from England then he has to follow the English regulation and install a 'hearth' which is 50mm deep. Is this true?

    As with anything gas or otherwise related , it will have to be installed as per manufacturers instructions , doing otherwise will invalidate your warranty , so if a hearth is required by the manufacturer then that's gospel, regardless of regs. I don't have much experience with the stove side of things but I'm sure one of the more learned posters here can help a bit further.

    I many cases manufacturers can override 'lesser' or less stringent regulations.

    IS813 domestic gas regulations do call for 'gas fire' hearths to be 12mm thick, and rise 50mm above floor level
    it also specifically state manufacturers instructions are followed for 'stoves' for minimum distances to 'combustible materials' (wooden floor?)
