Almost feel sorry for the commentators doing their best to make this event sound interesting.

Why are they only times when deemed to be out of position ? I realise they can't go anywhere, but if random referees were walking the course and timing players here and there, and penalising accordingly, there wouldn't be a problem.

Wishful thinking I know, but I wonder if a sponsor would ever, just for sh1ts and giggles, insist on a timer with every group.....

Was thinking that earlier - the logical conclusion to this **** - is a timer for every hole or group or even shot.

You can't have a lad stand up to a ball and walk away.

    1 then 2 then 3 times.

    Just can't have that.

Problem is the PGA Tour don't think (or admit) that there's a problem.

I think that image of Bowditch sitting down by the edge of the green waiting says it all.

Lol bowditch having a lie down while loupe hits!

Don't know anymore, something like the 14th, its almost unwatchable tbh.
I only keep Sky sports for the golf pretty much, many more tournaments like this and it'll be going.

The Euro tour is finished - as in you wouldn't pay to watch it. The courses and scenery can be nice. But ................

If Rory or Tiger were playing you'd love this or any event they are in.

But - what happens is you get into a routine of watching them and many of the US events are very average / poor.

They put up a list of the players in the mix there. Very few in top 100 - rest were 100 , 200, 300 + .

Yes I'd watch any golf. But it is long enough. Has to be good stuff for the time you invest. Dublin Mayo match for 5 mins was better than all this.

I think a big problem is how little the top players are playing and the way they are spread out over different events.

keegan Bradley would be in a world of pain if this was in

Nice fore call from Loupe there. Where on earth did that one go?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,110 ✭✭✭RikkFlair

Loupe also slow at shouting FORE too it seems.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,985 ✭✭✭Russman

Seriously, what the f--k is he doing with that routine ?????

Nearly 80 seconds for that shot. No fore call for a ball heading into the grandstand. Really wish this guy wasn't around.

I'm catching up on Sky Plus... Fast forwarding the golf and watching the adverts....

Is Loopers swing a bit hogan-esque? The follow through seems quite like it

I think sometimes timing every shot is a bit tough. An average over maybe 10 shots would be better.
Don't get me wrong, I hate needless slow play, either on the PGA tour or on a Sunday morning game at the local club. But sometimes they do need a bit more time, maybe up to a couple of minutes if the're stuck somewhere awkward. But that time should be made up with quick shots from standard positions - drives, layups etc.

It's the 18th hole and I still haven't figured out the logic behind walking up to the ball, taking a practice swing, then walking backwards, then walking towards the ball, taking another practice swing, walking back...

Really happy for Bowditch, held it together really well!

Very corporate friendly post-win interview there. Beats thanking God I suppose ;)

My favourite bit was where he glanced down at his t-shirt to remind himself of what sponsor he had to thank next...

Was this the worst Final Round Golf ye have seen?

    Has to be up there.

    Says it all
    Rob Bolton ‏@RobBoltonGolf 1m
Steven Bowditch's closing 76 is the highest final round by a winner since @VijaySinghGolf's 76 at the 2004 @PGAChampionship.

To be fair, by the sounds of it, the guy sounds like he's been through a lot so I don't want to make it seem like I am being overly negative. Very happy for him that he won it. Perhaps prefers to keep the personal stuff personal and just use the media to boost his 'business'. If his goal was to keep the interview short as well he chose a great tactic!

Have to say for pure bizarreness .
that was the best wrap up of a irrelevant event I've seen in a while.

Still trying to work out that "loopers" - pre shot routine is about.
He has issues with blades of grass. Not the best sport man.

He obviously trying to flatten his swing with his baseball swings.

Yes he is on the US tour and should stick his fingers up to the snide remarks.

But - not too many people would like to play a round with him.

I think it is just a form of selfishness in the end.
Because it ruins everybody else's game except his.

You see it at every golf event you are at.

    Non major
    Rob Bolton ‏@RobBoltonGolf 1h
The last winner of a non-major to shoot 76 or higher in the final round was Fred Couples, who carded a 77 at the 1983 Kemper Open.

Was thinking the same myself when watching. After reading the following article, it made a lot more sense why he avoided talking about emotions/thoughts etc.

Thats a very sad but also inspiring story.

Hopefully he can kick on his career for himself and maybe inspire others.
