work probably won't wait though...lot of people work weekends.

A lad on here gave me an excuse - "Time is madey-uppey" or something along them lines. I've kept it in reserve for emergencies.

Came across a quote somewhere last night that 'a book contains reality no more than a clock contains time'; someday I hope to be able to use it as a really pretentious variation on that excuse :P Probably very limited circumstances in which it'd really work, but oh boy oh boy if it did...

Its been wrecking my head that the clocks haven't gone forward for the past few weeks. There's tons of light in the morning. The I remember that the clocks went back at the end of October. ~7 weeks before the winter solstice. Its now around 10 weeks after.

There's more daylight available in March when the clocks go forward than when they go back in October. 12hrs 48 minutes of sun today... 9hrs 57minutes in October: http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/astronomy.html?n=78

We're being robbed of light I tell ya!

Why is this? No one I know has been able to answer it, other than a vague reference to political influences on the wiki article.

You are not going to get much thanks for that but it's clearly true. The sun rises today at its earliest until mid-May. Total waste of light. And Sept 21 st is late Summer to me though it's the autumn equinox and it's 5 weeks before Summer time ends, while March 21st is in winter time. Both have ~12 hrs daylight. We should end winter time in early march, like the yanks.

Do people even need to be told this anymore? The only clock I use is on my phone, and that sorts itself out.

    Super.

Every single damn year, without fail...I forget about the clocks. Until some legend makes a thread about it on boards.

    Good night.

Who cares about the clock... man made time. Twitch the time a bit here and there etc... no big deal. Real time is when you have no electromagnetic parasitic sucking of yourself, time just naturally flows by as it should.

I heard this crazy person the other day telling me that there was this contraption called a clock-bell ... fecking crazy people everywhere.

    Crocodile Dundee had time sussed.

    "See you next wednesday Mick"
"Yeah, no worries - Wednesday...... what's today?"
    "Thursday"
    "Right"

    Lucky ba5tard.

I don't like or trust clocks that purport to 'sort themselves out'.

Okay, I'm confused. I thought the clocks went forward at 2am. But now, my PC and Phone are saying it's 2am, but the Guide on UPC is saying it's 1am. What is going on. I can't handle this!!

    Does anyone have the time?

Me and my sister just stayed up late staring at the time on our laptops and we saw it change from 00.59 to 02.00. Honestly it was quite a thrill.

    Ah, crazy saturday nights.

And that's why laptops shouldn't be allowed in their bedrooms.

Whatever way the clocks work, forward, backwards and all that, there is no doubt that we Need MORE ðaylight in the evenings, not the feckin morning!

I mean yesterday it was getting bright at 6am. Sheesh, wouldnt it be better to be bright at 7.30 am and give us a bit of light at the end of the day? It would help us all, less depression and hibernation and all that.

But I'm sure there is some weird and wonderful explanation for why that cannot be!

In the middle of a 12 hour shift at work. Clocks going forward means I get to work an hour less. Wahey!
