Got mine today from my club. Seems like such a waste of money.

Yep,replaces the old card, new card doesn't even have your club name on it like the old one but hey, it does have aig all over it as well as their telephone number in case you need insurance ;-)

Never got a new card two years ago for some reason. Same card since I joined club about 5 years ago. Not sure why

So old card obviously works, it just appears that its a rebranding by the sponsoring company, nothing else, I assume GUI number has stayed the same (in 2014 version)

I do like it too. But no chip and doesn't even state my club's name. Silly question but my club also uses it for the bar balance, would the new one still be the same and my club would have transferred my bar balance, too? Will I hang on to the old one just in case?

Same at my club. The Golf manager had to manually transfer all balances onto the new cards.
