Griffin's Londis at the Stephen's Green end of Grafton Street is doing €2 chicken fillet rolls with lettuce, red onion and tomato. "Back by popular demand" apparently. They're not very nice.

Dunnes increased their Meal Deal price to €3.50 from €3 because Tesco did the same with their Meal Deal few weeks ago.

What I'd recommend is taking a trip down to the other end of Grafton Street and picking up a lovely chicken fillet roll with fresh bread and three fillings (including Mozzarella) from Maguires for €2.75 if you pretend you're a student.

That's the American food processing system. That said I have no idea where the chicken comes from.

Anyway Im saving over 200 euro a month since I started bringing in my lunch. More options and better quality.

But the only real time a lot of people have is the night before and then there's the whole "What will I have" and then you have to fridge them and they get soggy and if you put Tomatoe in there...... well then you've got epic soggy sambos

It's a great time to be alive for sandwiches. Forget the horrible white bread roll with processed chicken. Get a lovely monster sandwich. Green Bench for example.

keep eating chicken rolls for lunch your arteries will dictate where you dine before your brain will.

Where did this meme that chicken rolls are basically molten lead mixed with toxic waste and asbestos come from? Its chicken, bread and a breadcrumb coating... they're a little high in salt, there's healthier things you could eat, probably shouldn't eat nothing but chicken rolls four times a day everyday, sure... but Jesus, the way some people go on is unreal sometimes.

Not directed specifically at your post whippet, just this whole hysterical food phobia that seems to be becoming more prevalent.
"Bread is cake, people!!! Wheat is poison!!! Carbs raped my mother! The food pyramid was built by Hitler!"

****e off you crazy dull goons.

I only eat them about once a week, when I'm stuck for time in the morning, but the staff in my local dunnes only ever charge me two euro because I give them discounts on stuff they buy from me :D

They've always sold in that particular Dunnes at 3.65 though, never 2.29.

Ah ha!! its all about moisture control and build dynamics....Foods like Tomatos (no e) Cucumber or any potential soggy releasing foods should never....and I stress NEVER come in contact with your bread....A layer of Butter/Mayo then the meat or cheese...(can be substituted with Lettuce for veggies) Then your Tomatos (again no e) or cucumber or pepper or all 3 if its pay week.....place some more cheese or choosen meet/lettuce on top to sandwhich the damp fillings together Another wee bit of mayo/butter on the other slice place together......epic sandwhich.......Place in lunch box and day dream your day away looking forward to your epic Sambo!!
On a side note Spinnach is an awesome moisture blocker and very tastey......and makes ya feel all Popeyeish....Wholemeal bread makes better Sambos too......

This thread is a balls for those of us abroad. I've been slowly schmoozing my way in with the girl behind the deli on the corner to start doing these, we're currently halfway on a grilled chicken breast with cheese as their Friday lunch special. Baby steps lads, baby steps.

Are they still enforcing their no cheese policy?

    http://www.yelp.ie/biz/dunnes-dublin-2

What this very negative review concerns itself with is the hot deli counter in the Dunnes in Stephen's Green. Dunnes normally do a very good deli counter; the one in George's St is extremely nice. However, my experience at the counter in question left a lot to be desired.

The hot counter in this particular Dunnes is often running out of stuff, and while this might be expected occasionally, particularly at 2 or 3 o'clock, it is a minor inconvenience at best. What I am about to recount, however, is a heresy in the art of sandwich making, and should shock you to your very core.

I approached the counter and asked for a chicken fillet roll. No problems there. Did they get the ratios wrong, you ask, too much mayonnaise or not enough lettuce? No, I could live with that. When asked what I wanted on my roll, I replied lettuce, tomato and grated cheese. To which I received the reply that they didn't do cheese with chicken fillet rolls. I assumed that there was some token additional charge for this extra filling, as cheese is not one of the staple chicken fillet roll fillings (tomato and lettuce for those of you who are interested); vexatious, but not the end of the world. I hazarded this assumption on my part, only to be told that no, it wasn't a financial thing, they just didn't put cheese on chicken fillet rolls. Full stop.

When I asked about this bizarre state of affairs, I was told it was a health and safety thing. Now, I appreciate that this poor girl was only doing her job, and I assure you that I didn't take it out on her, but it is a sad state of affairs when a man can't walk into a shop in this great nation of ours and get cheese on his chicken fillet roll. Is what we've come to? Is this what the men of '98 and '16 died for?

I ask this as I have been served cheese on chicken fillet rolls the length and breadth of Dublin, and if Dunnes wanted to institute some sort of cheese legal waiver, I would gladly sign.

Needless to say, I shall not be giving the deli counter of Dunnes Stores, Stephen's Green my custom in the future.
