So I went into Dunnes Stores on St. Stephen's Green earlier to get my usual €2.29 chicken fillet roll for lunch, but was stopped in my tracks when I discovered that they have increased the price to €3.85  I then head over to the pre-packed sandwiches section where it turns out they have also increased the price of the sandwich meal deal from €3 to €3.50! A bit odd that these price increases come a few weeks after they decided to stop displaying the prices of most of their hot counter deli items.

Needless to say I'll be taking my custom elsewhere from now on

The position of Dunnes in this matter has become untenable.

I bought what I thought was a hot dog yesterday in Dunnes.

I'm not that stupid to not only understand that it's processed meat in them, but hello.......... Not a mention of dogs in the ingredients.

Do ye not all see? They have to make back the money they lost when selling that cheap veg before Christmas. Crazy fools, I warned ye all constantly that this would happen, told everyone I came across, wrote to the Irish Times about it as well.
By warning I actually mean I said absolutely nothing because I couldn't give a toss but the point still stands!!!

Chicken rolls made from male chickens should be known as Cock rolls. ;)

All very flippant here I must say. The opening poster is correct, that's an extortionate price increase in one go for the exact same product.

No! Your face is an extortionate price increase in one go for the exact same product.

Are you sure they weren't undercharging you by mistake or it was a special deal for awhile? €2.29 for a chicken roll is awful cheap. I usually pay around €4.

The OP must have been getting it as a student rate.

Chicken rolls are 1.99 in longish and a lot of centras and usually 2.50 in the rest. In and around 4 in most spars. It is an awful lot for the price to go up in one day. Anyway vote with your feet. I wouldn't be inclined to spend 3.85 on a chicken roll unless i was in a a hurry and couldn't be bothered going to londis.

True. And it's not like there's even a choice. If we didn't have that crazy "you have to carry a chicken roll" Law, people would be able to escape this tyranny. It's a disgrace. Almost a whole Euron! Some Corporations will stop at nothing.

Edit. OMG. Almost €2 eurons. Jasus, that is a bit of a hike, in fairness. You sure OP?

Might not be chicken at all in that roll ............get your local Chinese Chef to test it for you.

It was advertised in their lunch deals, but it has been €2.29 for about the past 2 years and certainly isn't a student offer
