I don't think it is a case of lying. Maybe just being behind the times. Up till fairly recently some pros were still clinging to the old ball flight laws for example. Point your body where you want ball to start and club face where you want it to end etc etc. Proven to be incorrect. I'd hope most have changed now.

Personally unless i really trust a pro I'd feel the need to be on a launch monitor as I can see the numbers rather than relying on what the pro thinks he can see on video.

Fair Point, My use of language was not good, in trying to ask my question, the changes in ball flight laws and teaching practices have come about because of the Professional Development of the PGA increased levels of training and more development programs, seminars where the leading Teachers come together and share best practice and ideas on teaching. This filters down to the Grass Roots PGA Pro and it is up to him to take these changes and teachings on board. As with everything its building up a trust and finding the correct one.

    Exactly.
Most good pros nowadays don't have "a method", they work with what the golfer has and try to make that better, or at least they should IMO.

I wouldn't be against launch monitors per se, but having the numbers isn't worth a toss if you don't know why/how you're producing those numbers.

Cameras have their uses too, but IMO they're best used to illustrate a point. You can pick flaws in anyone's swing in slow motion, but whether they're the important flaws in that particular swing will be guesswork. You'd end up like Harrington, convinced he had an issue with his elbow, yet the ballflight was perfect.

Exactly. See Furyk. The only thing that's important is the moment of impact.

Well..since I last posted Ive hit range twice..the first day was horrid..low hooks nearly 90% of the time.

But I hit the library and borrowed a book..golf cures and fixes by mitchell beazley.

Went to the range today and withinvabout 20 balls I went from hooks to pushing drives. Which felt great I have to say. The were landing 220 yards. So um happy progress ia being made. The fix was basically keeping my hands very low when starting my back swing. My problemis all in the hands.

Sounds like you were swinging flat with too much hands in the swing (maybe fanning open on the way back and rolling closed on impact)
