Just a quick one re GUR and in particular, if a player is allowed to play out GUR.

    This scenario happened yesterday:
I hit my approach that was 2 feet from the green, just off the fringe. When I got up to it I noticed a large area of GUR. New sods had been laid but were at the start of the area, some 10 feet away. Where I ended up was perfect fairway and established ground. (Anyway that is irrelevant I think)

My understanding is the you can play out of any GUR as long as the club do not have a specific local rule posted saying that "play is prohibited from GUR".

It's the first time I ever considered to play from GUR. I was putting to the flag 8 feet away...
I ended up erring on the side of caution and was left with a 15 ft chip.

I've had a look at the rules and I still think I was allowed to play out of it.
There was no Play Prohibited rule.

    Am I right?

3 playing partners were adamant you can never play from GUR

You CAN play from GUR unless there is a local rule stating that you must not.

That's what I believed to be the case, cheers Rikand.
