Does anyone know where i can buy one in Ireland?

Iv contacted the UK distributor but they are very unhelpful, telling me they have Irish retailers but wont name them!

We bought ours from CloughJordan Cycles in Birr, now known as velo. I was in FitzCycles.ie (in Dublin) recently and they seem to be offering them now as well. I think neither place keeps them in stock, understandably given their size and what I expect is a limited demand, they just arrange delivery direct from the distributor in the UK.

Incidentally, we've been very happy with ours.

Thanks for the info, do you cycle with it?

Yes. We bought an extra hitch so that either my wife can use her bike with it or I use mine with it. It has been great. It's not the cheapest trailer available but we've had no regrets at all as it has proved to be very good quality over the last 2 years.

I use one almost daily. can get them in CRC - below(although I actually bought a second hand one which I saw on donedeal.ie).

I dont have the stroller kit which costs another 60 quid.

kids love it and stands up to monsoon rain reasonably well...

there's also a cheaper model which seem to be pretty much the same

Just to add, we bought the buggy kit (two small front wheels) for our trailer too (we've a Chariot Cougar 1). With these wheels on it it works well as a buggy when detached from the bike, and you just pop the two little wheels out and reconnect them on top, as an easy and quick form of storage, when the trailer is connected to the bike. The only issue we've had with the buggy kit is that in all the deep snow last winter it struggled to ride over some of the mounds of snow when walking with it - we ended up pulling it backwards instead at times as the larger back wheels cleared the hurdles very well.

We considered buying the stroller kit (big single front wheel) in case we face walking with it in snow again this year but in the end settled on the hiker kit instead where it attaches directly to the human at the front rather than to a bike. It's a very versatile trailer.

You may already have found it but in case not the Amba Marketing website has good info on the various Chariot products, and the various conversion kits are shown, with sterling prices, here.

CRC had them in their belfast store when I was in there yesterday...

Do CRC sell Chariot (the brand)? It's not listed as a brand on their website, that I can see.

I bought this one from my LBS http://www.croozerdesigns.com/kid-for-1.html, very happy with it. cost in the region of 300 notes.

You can also get a cross-country ski kit for it!

    I got mine from activekidsgear.co.uk

They are indeed versatile and excellent quality.

We very briefly toyed with the idea of the ski attachments but we are considered eccentric enough in our area as it is given that we seem to be perhaps the only adults who cycle by choice and towing a trailer just confirms our weirdness. I'm not sure the local sensibilities could withstand the visual onslaught of us towing the trailer on its skis - there would be a danger of a localised outbreak of strained gossip glands.

Our daughter, on the other hand, would likely be delighted to be gliding along on snow. It would seem a little more regal than bumping along on wheels!

We have a Chariot Captain XL. Bought in the last few months from velo.ie, and I am happy with their price and service.

I know all about that weird eccentricity vibe! I've had kids running alongside pointing and shouting in amazement, something Karl Drais and the Michaux brothers might have been familiar with.

Sorry for waking the zombie thread.
I've a used one listed for sale:
    http://www.adverts.ie/other-bike-parts-accessories/chariot-cougar-1-bike-trailer-with-stroller-kit-full-suspension/3863295

    NWNlMTk5NjlhNmIxOTM0ZTQ5NmY1NzI2NDc2MWEyZjiSVLR2sdjZc9CngxFNOhRyaHR0cDovL21lZGlhLmFkc2ltZy5jb20vODhiMmEwMjI2YTU1Yjc2Y2M3ZjczMGRmMmE0YzA2Y2VmYzZjNmRkMzJjNzc4MGQyZWUyYWE1NmE1ZGQyMWJiOS5qcGd8fDI5NHx8fHx8aHR0cDovL3d3dy5hZHZlcnRzLmllL3N0YXRpYy9pL3dhdGVybWFyay5wbmd8fGh0dHA6Ly93d3cuYWR2ZXJ0cy5pZS9zdGF0aWMvaS9ub25lLWltYWdlLmpwZ3w=.jpg
Avocado Chariot Cougar 1 (2010) for sale.
Comes with a strolling kit, doubles as stroller.
Baby supporter (9-18 mths) for little extra support and comfortable naps.

Done around 1,000 km in the "school" runs over the last 3 years, no matter the weather. Started travelling in at the 8 months of age and now at 3.5 years (and 110 cm height) can't stretch his legs. If it wasn't for the new bike I'd use it for the next 2 years minimum. Trailer capacity is rated at 35 kg.

Easily passes most door openings at 67 cm width. Total weight of a mere 11 kg and configurable suspension for smooth and stable rides.

    Will welcome offers.

Anyone try to attach a kiddy board (wheeled platform your older child can stand on) to one of these in stroller mode?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,314 ✭✭✭beazee

Might do if you find way mounting it to the bar:

I was thinking along those lines. Kiddy boards seem to fall into two camps: attaching to a horizontal bar/rear axis or to the uprights of the stroller at the side.

Might have to bodge an exisiting model.

Just in case the information turns out to be useful to anyone else: the Lascal mini buggy board seems to do the trick.

The rear axle is neither round nor oval, which is what the connectors are designed for, but they seem to sit securely enough.

    Folds up nicely too.
