Is Elara accepted as HP supplier?
The price for N54L is 265E which, considering free shipping, seems to be good enough.

    Thank you.
Well.. I've seen 6 available a few hours ago, but they are gone now.

Pixmania dodgy - the outbound marketing company (email on claim form) authoritative source.

I lurked here for couple of months bought at https://www.serversplus.com/microserver_cashback free delivery to parcel motel code MSFREEDNUK. Seems best overall.

Great box soaking gigabit network backups take no time

Well.. Elara surprised me... I understand that because of the popularity the price can go up, but from 265 E to 398.40E??

Many of the irish retailers jack the price up when they learn of cashback

Thats a horse of a deal. Don't worry about the natsayer putting Pixmania down. A few posters had problems, but thats not counting the thousands of satisfied customers, including me. This is being dispatched by a third party. That arrangement works in much the same way as at Amazon.co.uk.

I would advise an email to those running the cashback
    promotions@out-bound.co.uk

They were very responsive to my questions on which suppliers had qualifying stock.

While pixmania do work like amazon marketplace, for both extra care is needed to verify whether stock qualifies for this promotion or not.

But how can you know if Pixmania does qualify?

You can send an email to the address provided above and ask.

BTW.. is there any chance that this RAM will work on n54L?

I did and they said I would have to check.
    How do I do that.?

Well.. I asked about Elara and they replied as you can read below, so I guess that in this case you will have to clarify with Pixmania if the microserver is purchased in the authorised distribution partner.

"Provided Elara have purchased the products for resale from one of HP’s authorised distribution partners in Ireland and all purchases are made in accordance with the other terms and conditions regarding sourcing and special pricing there should not be an issue with your claim."

    Answer from

    promotions@out-bound.co.uk

"Pixmania.Com website is also used by marketplace sellers who are not HP Business Partners or even UK companies in some cases. When viewing the product that you are purchasing on the website it clearly states who the seller is, ‘Dispatched from and sold by...’. If it states MiniPrice Express , this would not be eligible as they are based abroad."

    So no dice.

I installed Plex on my N36L Proliant but the CPU is not powerful enough for real time transcoding.
Will adding a discrete graphics card help? i.e. will Plex use the GPU rather then the CPU?

I googled but the answers are either very dated or inconclusive. Has anyone tried?

    Running Ubuntu rather than Windows

Sorry i see from a reasonable recent post in this threat that a GPU is not supported.

Nope - makes no difference. transcoding is CPU bound.

In case someone didn't buy yet, PCWB seems to be cheaper than Server Plus.

Just took delivery of one of these (http://www.ebuyer.com/product/253305) from eBuyer. The ebuyer cost is 240 pounds - but you get a cheque back for 100 pounds from the supplier directly. So, 140 pounds. 4 bays for drives and no OS - ideal as a NAS maybe? Am gonna throw linux on it.

No longer for sale. Discontinued. :-(
