What are the permutations for tomorrow? I know a win sees us through but do the Dutch need to best us by a certain amount?

To be honest, working out NRR is a bit of a pain in the arse. Best thing to do is win, and worry about it afterwards :pac:

Well first up we want a Zimbabwe win in the first game. If UAE do beat them and Netherlands beat us then it will come down to our head to head result against the Dutch and we'd be out

Next we want a narrow Zimbabwe win. Unfortunately the most likely result in that game is a big Zimbabwe win however

Finally a narrow loss may do for us, but we dont have a lot of wiggle room. The D/L win wasnt great for our NRR so

Ours is the second game so we will know exactly whats needed, but as its all gonna be so tight we may as well just go for the win. In fact I'd wager that Zimbabwe will have improved their NRR so much in the earlier game that only a win will do us in our game

I thought our game was at 9 30?

Never mind, I see there is 3 games happening.

Ya first game tomorrow is at 5am or something. Then the 'tournament proper' starts with the 1.30 game

Net run rate comes before head to head does it not?

Not according to the guys on Sky. If only 2 teams are level on points then its H2H, if more than 2 then NRR comes into it

Cricinfo seems to have a different take on it:
In the event of teams finishing on equal points in their Group, the right to play in the Super 10 series will be decided in the following order of priority:

The team with the more wins in its Group will be placed in the higher position.

If there are teams with equal points and equal wins in the Group stage then in such case the team with the higher net run rate in the Group stage will be placed in the higher position (refer to clause 21.10.5 below for the calculation of net run rate).

If two or more teams are still equal, they will be ordered according to the head to head match played between them (points then net run rate in those matches).

If the above does not resolve the Group ordering, or if all matches within a Group produce no results, then any tied teams will be ordered as per their Group seedings.

Ye pretty sure it goes to RR first.

Didn't realize we'd be priced so close tomorrow. Ireland 1/2 thought we would be more like a 1/5 shot.

Hopefully we can do it! Unfortunately I'll be on the golf course for most of it. Tough Life :P

Not gonna be 1/5 against a dangerous Dutch side especially with Tom Cooper in the form he's in. Thank fukk there's no Ryan Ten Doeschate!

Best of luck to the guys tomorrow anyway, wont get to see it as I cant get out of work but will be following the text updates and will also get up a bit early to catch the Zim v UAE game. Despite the obvious nerves we have enough better players to win this and the experience too. Still cant be over confident as this variant of the game is most likely to throw up surprises.

Zim need to get the total in 15.4 overs to pass Irelands current NRR

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,474 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

If Netherlands win with 29 balls to spare or by 36 runs they will pass Ireland NRR
