Mixing milk replacer and whole milk

    As the title says
    cant you mix milk replacer and whole milk together to feed to calves? is anyone doing it and at what ratio ??

    Farmer did it when I was on first college placement.
    He had some heifers. Easily 100kgs at 9 weeks old. Can't remember mixing rate

    Have seen some use 2l whole milk & no milk replacer

    Shine once a day can be mixed with whole milk.

    Only do it if the instructions say its OK.
    Otherwise stick to one or the other.

    Calves are easy enough upset without going against the mixing instructions.

    I tried it in the autumn. Half milk and half milk replacer. Calves were unreal on it

    Do it the whole time here. Usually make up a strong hot mix of MR, and then throw it in with the milky washings straight out of the parlour after the 1st rinse.
