    A good guess. But no.

This was released 3 years after Blue Velvet

Is 3. Out of the Furnace?

Yay! Was thinking they were flipping hard but that was the only one I thought I knew without being a complete wild guess.

Probably too obvious, but I'll go for One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest for 4?

I'm afraid not, it is made in the 70's but not an American film.

    is 2. Derailed?

Bit of a guess, thought of it yesterday when I saw it first but thought it too low brow for this thread and therefore discounted it. Lol.

    1. Apollo 13?

    is 9 Ayers Rock?

I'm afraid it's not derailed, the train doesn't have a huge part in the film but it is central to bringing the two main characters together.

Not Apollo 13 but a very similar film, a lot newer.
Yes that is Ayers Rock in no. 9.

    Another guess on 2 then.
    Is it Unbreakable?

    3. Guessed correctly as "Into the Furnace"

    7. Film set in LA from the 2000's
    8. European film from the 70's
    9. True story set in Australia staring a multiple Oscar winner

Well, if 1 is a Chaplin film...and it can't be "A Woman of Paris", which I originally thought it might be (can't be, though, as you say that whoever wrote and directed it also starred in it), I will go for "The Circus".

Not The Circus I'm afraid, it is a Charlie Chaplin film though, well done but from the very early 20's.
