Need a 2TB external drive - any recommodations??

Hi all

Am upgrading my 500MB external drive to a possible 2TB or even a 3TB.

Prices on DABS.ie and Amazon seem to be around €80 converted. Seams to be either Seagate or Samsung.

Any experiences of same out there?? Any thing I should look at OR watch out for ???

My pc is 5++ years old - so should I just stick to 2TB???

Since your PC is 5 years old you won't see any benefit from a USB 3 drive, this will do the job just fine.

Agree...and learned the hard way!!!

No...Am looking at a monthly Subscription to an on-line storage option for important stuff.

This drive is for music and movies etc.....not the end of the world if I lose them. But the Important Folder will be backed up online.

...well that's the plan!

i know it might not seem like as good a bargain as some but i have one of these fellas

and find it alot more handy because it doesnt need a plug socket. i stay away from larger hard drives too just in case they do fail. if you have data spread about on 4 drives instead of one you won't lose it all in one go! and believe me i have had 2 drives fail on me. its really a matter of luck as to the brand. i'd say they are all the same these days. i hear wd caviar black are good but sure they are as likely to fail as any of them:)

That's a weird one, http:// is prefilled in the link box and is usually overwritten with your link, but if you click in it and then paste you end up with two of them so your link is broke.

I have a Samsung M3 and am very happy with it. (Its actually made by Seagate)
