Mixed a tank this morning as it was coming through the slats, mixing dropped it 6" below the slats so thats one job less.
Have to put 2 strainer posts up now and a bit of wire then 2 fills of the diet feeder and milk.

God be with the days when I was asked for id. They still did slow sets in the disco!! The only place I get asked for id now is the US which is a pain in the behind.

Slow sets what? The erection section as we called them.

    And right you are too...

    Round these parts you'd hear...
If its a Catholic farmer - You'd think he'd know better, sher his grandfather and his father were the same

If its a Protestant Farmer - Feckin Protestants, have to be seen out working on Paddy's day just to make a point..

    Impossible to win

And then both sides claim him as 'one of ours'. A load of crap this working or not thing. There several wish they were able to do it. I got calf houses cleaned out, some weanlings done for lice and timber sawed up for fire. Fodder now, then milk and might head out then. To me this makes more sense than doing it some day and it maybe raining. Local parade mainly be lads driving through town on their new tractors - look what we bought. As if i care

Isn't it beautiful dry day and lovely to be out and about

I took a spin about the place and took my time feeding today .. You can nearly feel the place growing , cows n baby calves thriving and generally lovely time of year

Milk tank overflowed on me again tonight, this time with only 5milkings in it :(, and one of my best heifers who calved afew days ago has a badly swollen and brused udder, I called the vet and he said its a fair chance of gangrene mastitis, he has pumped her full of drugs, I lost a good cow to it last year, would be very annoyed if the same happens to this heifer.

Biddy, not speaking from personal experience as my disco days are well over, but Hector was on telly last week bemoaning the loss of slow set. He tried to reintroduce it to coppers but the patrons had'nt a bulls notion what was going on!!!.
I had a very strict rule of three strikes and I'm finished asking which unfortunately meant alot of lonely nights for me!!
Some of my buddies were less discerning and always got the shift god help them!!

Bloody waiting on the dept to approve my grant, they send me a letter two weeks ago asking me to put a scale 1:500 on the yard map, that's the only fecking holdup at the second, the chap supplying the tank is ready to install it.

Digger in at drains and I'm at slurry all day. Between the weather and the regulations it's hard enough to get anything done. If we have to start worrying about the god squad we may as well throw our hat at it.

Got up at 6 this morning feed and foddered then stirred the small tank. The young lads spread it while I stirred the tank at the cubicles. Calved the last 2 heifers and just in small tank empty and tank under cubicle down 2 foot.

A great days work all told both calves up sucking and ready for the field tomorrow.

    Time for a scoop.
