Personally I am less impressed with Carragher as the weeks go by. He just can't articulate himself, and when he does I don't find his points to be all that revealing.

Its not just the accent and the hand waving, look at him last night at half time trying to analyse Newcastles horrific defending. It amounted to gesturing at the screen and saying "Look at it, look at it". It was clear he knew why it was awful defending, but he couldn't spit it out.

I find myself wishing he would finish up and just let Neville talk.

Not a huge fan of pundits, as do they atually tell you anything you don't discuss in here?

However, the banter is good enough between the two of them anytime I've watched. Neville speaks sense and Carragher is has been ok, not as good as Neville but by all acounts improving. New job and all that.

I wouldn't be too upset if I never seen either of them on tv again though.

Really enjoying Neville and Carra. Even if Carra's articulation isn't the best it's almost like a double-act (not to disrespect Carra but that is a criticism I've seen of him). I think they are both more interesting than any other pundits on TV. That's for the premier league anyway, haven't seen much champions league coverage on sky this year.

i think Neville's involvment with England & with Phil being a coach with Utd is compromising his position on sky
only criticises non British players & seems to think Man Utd troubles is nothing to with Moye's inept tactics & management

You could hear the frustration and bemusement at what was going on in his voice today.

But yeah, not a chance will he say anything about it.

He was slamming Vidic after the penalty/sending off, which is fine as a team mate - you want your own players to make the correct decisions and Vidic's tackle was reckless.

But I wonder if it wasn't Sturridge who'd dived (or specifically, not an English player) would he have maybe mentioned that it wasn't even a foul? Edit: <--- That's badly worded

I wonder would Neville have been as quick to blame the CB instead of Sturridge for diving if Sturridge wasn't English.

    Compromising his position??
    LOL :D
You want him to be sacked for being biased or something???

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,775 ✭✭✭atilladehun

He definitely said the tactics were to blame today.

Neville is a Country mile ahead if anything else sky has to offer

Hated him as a player but the fairest honest pundit of them all

i just switch off at half time of every sky game and have done for years. I cant stand the sight or sound of neville. he trys to portray himself as another nice guy like all the sky pundits. when we all know what he really is. christ we watched him for years. he is fake because he is paid to be fake. hearing people say how he has changed and he is a great pundit makes me cringe.

So when you think of "nice guys" you get Jamie Redknapp, Souness and presumably Phil Thompson too? Riight.

What do you think of Merson? Is he a "nice guy"?

mainly redknapp and neville really.but i have a special hatred for neville that just doesnt go away because he pretends to be a neutral pundit. souness is bearable, but then you would have to listen to who ever he is talkin to. anyways i always go off and make a cup of tea and come back when its over. I dont rate any of the sky pundits enough to listen to their opinion. easier to just not lisgten to their crap

merson??? the only thing hes good for is if you want to make a bet just make it the opposite to what he says and youll probably win money. tbh i think sky just pay him because ya can get a laugh off the stuff he comes out with

I cant agree with this view tbh. Neville on the pitch is completely different to Neville in the studio.

He's obviously very competitive which can come across as dickish, arrogant etc but I don't for one second think that he's fake or anything like that.

IMO his views largely go against the grain and he has a really refreshing view on things especially his piece on diving and the whole Suarez biting thing.

His past has seems to have clouded your view of him, you should really give him another chance.

Neville is grand for games that don't involve Man United or key England players. Unfortunately there aren't enough of those games. I'd have Carragher any day anyway.

In the studio, he is the best there is in England. Co-commentating he is ok, but when he is analysing in the studio he is quality.

I'm a Liverpool fan and was a bit worried when he got the gig full-time but he hasn't been biased at all in the EPL IMO.

He has a fantastic knowledge of the game. Has won it all, and played for and against great teams.

Sky should have just him and Souness doing the analysing from now on, get rid of the other clowns.

Btw, I got some stick from my LFC mates for buying it, but his book is a very good read. Recommended reading for all football fans.

I'm all for giving credit where it's due as a Pool fan, ie to Neville the pundit, but you went out and bought his book? Grab a copy of the Sun while you were out too?

I know thats incredible really. neville is one of the least likeable people in the sporting world. even some united fans i know were able to see what he was when he was a player

Bit off topic but just caught Tony Gale on SSN saying that The Premier League is not all it's cracked up to be, that won't go down well with The Sky Propaganda team

Neville is a xenophobe. Criticised De Gea for mistakes but if Hart makes them nothing said. Foreign players dive he goes mad, Sturridge dives he says it's not a dive. Beginning to find him very irratating
