Garage / Mechanic ruined car interior.. what's normal / expected?

I do most of my mechanical/diag work myself in home workshop etc etc etc... so I don't really have much dealing with 'professional' garages... Anyway needed some specialist work done last week on a car. Found a place and booked it in.

My wife collected car : mechanical work is fine but some ape ruined the drivers footwell / mat and door card with oil/grease. The steering wheel was slippy too with grease... baby wipes sorted most of the grease from steering wheel. No complaint was made at time of collection.

The car has cream leather / cream carpet and beige mats. The mats were in the car just over a week... i.e. new. The drivers side mat is now fit for the bin.

I've sent photos of before and after to garage this morning. I am very particular about our cars condition, not a total nutter-head-case, but I just like a clean well sorted car! :) In all fairness they won't be open now until after bank holiday weekend...

I'm wondering what's reasonable for a garage to put this right when I contact them again next Tuesday? Advice from both side of the counter would be appreciated.

In my mind the garage needs to replace the driver side mat and clean the drivers area.. fair enough?

    Cheers,
    T

Id say they will have no issues sorting it out for you whether it's cleaning or replacement of mat.

As long as you were fairly quick about reporting it, I would expect the garage to sort it out.
