not in the media too much, but the man practically invented the whole latest craze of sh!te EDM (calvin harris, guetta etc etc) and now is saying things like "oh it all sounds the same to me so i'll be techno from now on"....

Love how this thread quickly took the diversion from "worst artist" to " people i don't like" Lily Allens music is a parody of the music op is complaining about, look as far as the fear to see that. There is no way in hell Bono is one of the worst artists, hes a genius with music. A twat otherwise. Even bands like kings of Leon, i hate then, but they aren't my taste, they are not "what's wrong with music" its people like rhianna (cake, cake, cake cake cake ) or drake ( erryday errday erryday erryday) or lil Wayne (*intelligible* Niggah) or pit bull (pit bull...*unintelligible * New yoaawwk) that deserve to be on this list, along with the aforementioned Nicki minaj and co. And people trying to put Phil And Rory G here is a farce no less. For shame.

The thread title is most irritating artist.

He wrote some great music, but for the most part he comes across as quite irritating.

Thread is most irritating artists, which for me are Kings of Leon. Rihanna, Gaga, etc. are not artists, they are mere products of the industry, nothing more.

Years ago talent shows and things like the national song contest and the Eurovision song contest were judged by a panel of people with good taste who were picked because of that, now it seems any auld half-baked wannabe can judge these talentless masses and the national and Eurovision competitions are left to the general population to judge. People in general have no idea what properties are required for a singer to make it and should not be allowed decide on winners in more serious competitions.

All these Britain's got talent/xfactor/the voice etc just leads to a massive drop in the overall standard of song and performer as people are voted in because of their popularity rather than their ability! One fine example is Ireland sending a turkey puppet to represent us in the Eurovision song contest, as if we were not already the laughing stock of Europe for our choice of politicians.

It is time to take the choice back from the ignorant masses and once again let people with taste and class choose winners in these competitions and then we will start to see an increase in the standard of singer and songs.

For me the worst would be the current winners of the most recent TV talent( less) show.

I think you're doing Pink a bit of disservice there by comparing her to Jessie J; I'm not a big fan of Pink and I know that she has released some awful dross, but she has a few decent ones too (Just Like a Pill, Sober) and actually does have a very good voice.

Jessie J probably has a decent voice but she oversings the shít out of everything which just makes her sound really shrill, her songs are pretty crap, and she's a terrible lyricist (even by pop music standards).

To me she's someone who's very lucky that she has a songwriting team and record label funding behind her. At least the likes of Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Pink etc. have some songwriting talent and vocal ability, whether you're a fan of them personally or not.
But Rihanna has a very nasal voice that's quite unpleasant to listen to imo. And while she does co-write some of her songs, most of her better [i.e. least bad] ones and more successful ones (SOS, Umbrella, Russian Roulette) were written by other people. Which makes me wonder why they weren't offered to a better/less nasal singer! I'd put Britney Spears in the same category; very limited vocal/songwriting ability but has a good team behind her.

Some people reckon it's satire, taking the piss out of white America. The fact that he chose to premiere it on Ellen sort of adds credence to that theory. The problem with someone as egotistical as Kanye is that it's pretty much impossible to tell when he's being satirical and when he's being serious.
