When the pull ring thingy breaks off the can of beans for the 'i have no money day dinner of beans on toast' and not a Tin opener in the house.
    Really gets on my nerves.

"big job" - hear this a lot in my family. "He has a big job up in Dublin you know" / " she has a big job in the bank" - I have relatives paying 90% tax

I used to hear this about my cousin the journalist in Dublin. Big whoop, she's still a nasty shade of carrot, with masses of freckles to go with it. Didn't like her when we were kids, haven't seen her for 20 years and have no interest whatsover in what she's doing.

"Oh, cousin Breda, she has a great job (nobody knew WTF it was, something vague like admin), with the bank AND married a barrister" He worked for Starbucks....turns out he was a barista!;)

My lot are a mixed bag, some have great jobs in banks, and some would "do" great bank jobs:)

I really hate the phrase "touch base".

They use it in the office the whole time.

Hey Fecked2bits, can you touch base with Mary about X Y and Z?

Why can't they just say "Can you find out about XYZ" or "can you ask Mary when XYZ will be ready" etc etc.

I will inbox you... Sounds vaguely threatening. Okay, I've never heard anyone use it, in reality.
Friend of mine works for an American company, they have blue sky thinking, brown bag lunches etc.

    "Crying out for..."

The country is crying out for IT graduates.
The coutnry is crying out of science professionals....

IS IT? IS IT REALLY or is it just politicans saying that on TV / radio to sound good? I dont' see anyone crying out, I can barely afford to live at this point and I work.

Then I get "oh you're not looking hard, they're crrryiiiing out for IT staff everywhere".

At mass, you go to sit up after kneeling down and the bollox behind you is still kneeling, forcing you to sit in an awkward stooped position like your're sitting on the bog.

In all fairness, It wasn't "the bollox behind you" that forced you to your knees in the first place...Or was it?

Maybe if the politicians stopped screwing everyone the IT graduates & science professionals would stop leaving the country...

Unrelated to the IT issue but similar to "crying out" is "they are calling on". My mother thinks that this will result in actual change. "Oh well you know, they are calling on the government to do xy and z" - so?? They're not going to listen anyway. Also, who are "they"?

Is it just me or does anyone else find the Sky news coverage of the Pistorious trial really annoying? I don't watch the trial, tbh I've no interest in it, but I catch bits of it during their ordinary newscasts. The guy is mostly shown sitting with his head in his hands, hiding his facial expressions, so no emotions whatsover can be seen on his face, yet Sky insists that it's because he is so upset, bullsh*t.

Nope, But when someone behaves themselves like that, They are showing you their weakness, their cards or hand, so to speak. You, on the other hand have no need to resort to such measures or to conduct yourself in such a way.
So, In that game you can smile because you win! ;)
Move on, Up the anti for the next game.....Better odds? better players? better luck!
