Being a football fan, I have to say I was affected by Gary Speed's suicide a few years ago.

Actually spent hours thinking about it, I was saddened and kind of intrigued by it..

Never really been upset at the death of a celebrity. I imagine if I had been aware of their music at the time I would have been upset at the deaths of Kurt Cobain and Mark Linkous though.

Veronica Guerin, It felt like the scum were about to take over and I'd always liked her journalism. I suppose you can feel closer to a journalist because you read their words and see them in the media.

It's no consolation to her family but(I hope it is) she will never be forgotten ....she is the beacon of decency and an absolute legend that refused to bow to threats and defamation….refused to curl up and die …an absolute brilliant intelligent beautiful women who said enough was enough and stood up to the filth and if we looks at ourselvesf we are letting her down as we speak, but she is solely responsible for the C.A.B…..and hopefully John Gilligan will have the karma police call on him again although it seems like a hollow victory at the stage

Was watching that programme about Páidi ó Sé on RTE last night, I remember being very shocked when he died, I still find it hard to believe it.

Randy Savage - As far as wrestling deaths go, his was the worst for me, and there have been A LOT of wrestling deaths.

Layne Stayley - Such and epic loss. People go on about Kurt Cobain, but Layne is a true legend as well.

Heath Ledger - Was such an awesome actor and so young as well.

Just read the wiki article on Staley & Mike Starr (alice in chains bass guitarist). So sad. Never really been big into the grunge tunes but "Would" by alice in chains is epic.

Paul Walker (more than any of the others I've named), Allan Simonsen, Dan Wheldon, Joey Dunlop (was very young at the time), Michael Clarke Duncan, Ryan Dunn, Neil Armstrong and Colin McRae.

I was far too young to remember these two, but I really wish Ayrton Senna and Kurt Cobain were still around.

Been following Schumachers condition closely... :(

Genuinely? None of them. I'd note them, but none effected me personally in any way at all. People I don't know and have never met die every day.

Someone mentioned Colm Murray, it was a sad way to go. I didn't know much about his background until I saw the RTE broadcast on him and never knew he lived only a few miles away from me in his earlier years.

Not really sure why, but the death of RFK made me cry. I was in my teens at the time and I think it was partly due to the fact that his brother had also been killed and that Martin Luther King had been killed not long beforehand.

Only one that brought tears was when I heard Roald Dahl had died. Granted I was only 8 or 9 at the time but for some reason it hit hard.

Steve Irwin :( Used to watch all his shows, and tbh he brought out the animal lover in me. I loved watching him get so close to the animals and when I was young when I was asked what I wanted to be I would say like Steve Irwin xD He was a true inspiration and made watching animals fun and interesting. I think it was so upsetting 'cause I was young and it was unexpected. I don't think anyone thought he would be killed by an animal, he seemed so natural and in tune with them.

It seemed inevitable to me that he would be.

Don't really get upset by famous people dying and I find the grief tourism that comes with it distasteful. However, there are two that really got me and they're very different and maybe not in the spirit of the thread.

James Bolger's death has always troubled me and infinitely more since I became a dad. There's not much else someone can say about it.

As a kid, when they killed off Optimus Prime in the first Transformers movie it had a big impact. First time it dawned on me that death was real and happens to good people.

Michael Jackson was the one that upset me.

He never once let me down when I needed a babysitter.
