not if he gets to top 10 / 5

    Don't worry, he won't.

I'd say he lost a lot of non US fans with that interview though, came across as a right pr1ck IMO. You can think it, but don't say it !!

As a slight aside, I think it's interesting to note the winners on the PGA tour so far this year.

As we hear more and more about golfers becoming bigger, stronger etc etc. the winners list really shows that it's far from the gym monkeys that are winning.

We've had the "cuddly" Reed and Stadler taking down 3 wins between them.

We've had the "small" Zach J picking up one.

And then the "average" Joe's such as Jimmy Walker & Henley.

I'm sure all of the above are extremely fit "for golf", even Stadler and Reed, but none are what I would call real athletic builds.
Think it's quite refreshing to see all shapes and sizes winning at a game that we are lead to believe is turning into one were it will be dominated by super athletes in future.

Nothing wrong with Reed's interview in my opinion. The interviewer led him with his questioning and Reed just answered the question. I think it's brilliant to have that sort of confidence in your ability. My opinion of him has gone up if anything.

He's 20th in the world now. If he keeps going as he's going, he will definitely break into the top 5. Certainly not bad for a guy who was 568th in the world this time 2 years ago.

Great composure coming down the last to take an iron off the tee, knowing he only needed a 5. A lot of people I'm sure would still have taken driver

Old me would have taken driver , new me.

No - your dead right - I don't think anybody should underestimate a lad if he has made it to 20 th.

    He is ahead of
    Hunter Mahan
    Oosthuizen
    Bradley

I'll be honest - he has had a low enough profile , versus most in the top 50.

Reed is only 23  I would have been sure he was at least 30 something.

Great win by him though, he had a few great up and downs on the back 9 under pressure.

The results of Tiger's silence below. You would think after seeing that on the 1st, that he might learn.... nope... hit plenty into the crowd yesterday without any calls.

Buba on the 18th however was worse. Very lucky that it didn't hit anyone in the grandstands as they knew nothing about a ball flying towards them. Think it's time for stroke penalties to put an end to that sort of selfish conduct.

I assume there is some reason why one of these guys can't sue ?
I mean there must be a case for negligence.

I would take it out of the hands of the players. Have the marshals shout fore so they don't have a choice

Yes and more - maybe exclusion for repeat offenders.

It annoyed the hell out of me last night at the lack of calls of fore from Tiger / Bubba et all. What is it going to take? A fatality?
Hitting a ball straight into a spectator stand and not saying anything? Even from 180 years away you would have heard the player calling fore. Its a disgrace.

It has to be said that Tiger is not the only one, Bubba did it last night, McIlroy a number of times, and it is extremely rare to see any player shout. The marshals at the tee-box do point left or right depending where the shot is going. I can only assume there is no shouting as it is a packed course and they are trying not to distract other player. I still think its extremely poor for players not to shout, Bubba's shot that went into the grandstand last night would have caused serious damage had it hit someone.

I have tickets for the PGA championship this summer and it states in the terms of admission that golfers, the PGA and the course are free of liability in the case of fans being hit by a golfball....it is considered an inherent risk of attending a tournament. (It's the same as with foul balls in baseball, you're only possible chance of a lawsuit would require proving intent, which is pretty well impossible)

I was watching the pgatour stream last night and when bubba hit on 18 i clearly heard fore being called 4 times before the
    Ball hit the stands.
I myself was skulled once on the course and i heard the fore call. I ducked and still got hit. Now i do agree that tour players tend not call usually cause they want to get a bounce back onto the fairway. What puzzles me is someone who brings a baby in a buggy onto a course, that's just crazy.

All the fans should wear hard hats in protest for a tournament

Ah shure these things happen, and shure didn't he get to meet Tiger up close and shure he probably got a signed glove or something and a story to tell the grandkids, well worth it IMO.

Fans are ultimately responsible for themselves. The LZ for drives that do off is small enough based on the dots they showed during some of the coverage. The fans shouldn't be standing here. They stand way to close to the golfer when the golfer is hacking out also.

Bubba was trying a shot through two trees very close to him yesterday, towards the end of his round. The fans were like 5 feet from the trees. If Bubba his one of the trees and it ricocheted back and hit a fan in the face whose fault would it be?

The event organizers also have a big responsibility not to allow fans into obvious danger zones. Yet they always, as far as I can see, have marshals to indicate when a ball has gone off.

Still no excusing some of the lack of calls from the players, particularity when it is on the way into the grandstand where the fans have nowhere to go.

Having said that when we play we shout fore for fellow players mostly and not hoards of people five foot off the edge of the fairway. If they were there when I was playing, I would be very hoarse and there would be a few fatalities every weekend.

As I said last night - I never heard anything on tv and obviously the people in the grandstand heard nothing either because they were sitting there still and oblivious to the ball rocketing towards their heads.

The way that ball was heading straight into the middle of the grandstand Bubba should have been waving and shouting as loud as he could.

Funny how players are quick to shout "sit" or "go" but suffer from shyness when the ball is veering towards lots of heads.

I don't think its anything to do with that at all TBH.
IMO its simply that they want to use the crowd as a backstop.
There was an interview a year or so ago and, I think it was Matt Kuchar (could be wrong on that), who basically admitted as much and said he didn't want anyone shouting fore for his ball as the crowd might part and he'd be in worse trouble.

Good point, but you'd need an awful lot of marshals, I think it might result in mayhem. Not every tournament would have enough, etc etc. Plus, I'm no lawyer, but if a tournament took on that responsibility, I'd imagine it would open them up to legal issues, duty of care etc.

The players are adults, they're responsible, and the PGA or the Tour should do something about it. Obviously they won't (possibly in Europe they might, but no way in the States), but maybe the sight of blood at the weekend might focus minds. If it keeps up we'll see junior golfers and idiots standing on tee boxes here at home with their arms out to the left or right and not shouting fore !

John Daly has just scored 90, including a 12 on the 16th that only included one putt!

In fairness, after last week, if they were offered another tough course, most might take a week to unwind alright!

If you're any way squeamish about your game, don't read this :D

I can only imagine what John Daly got upto to shoot a 12.

I think he recorded a 19 once that involved him hitting a moving ball after he putted up a slope and the ball came back down to him.

They'll make a movie about him one day, starring Matt Damon :pac:
