Surprised at that silly generalisation from you, tbh. Do you think the same way about people who own pit bulls?
I didn't mean people who happen to like and own cats, I meant cat people, people who are near obsessed with the cats and witter on about how independent and aloof they are blah blah(which as metaoblivia points out is daft anyway). Yep I avoid those kind of cat people. Just as I would avoid those kind of obsessive dog people regardless of breed.
Eh, some breeds of cats are getting there. The "modern" Siamese breed is having big health problems due to inbreeding to try and get that weird skinny alien look that is preferred for some reason. They're breeding their heads to be so narrow the cats actually end up brain-damaged. It's now very difficult to get a healthy modern Siamese in the US.
No way? Christ. That's bloody tragic M. I blame the breeders and those brainless chumps who seek out such misfits. Goes for the dog world too. IMHO the Krufts dog show on the telly is like watching the Black and White minstrel show back in the day. A major case of WTF is this doing on the telly. It's like watching an hour of cruelty once removed. The poodle that won it was one of the most comically daft looking yokes I've ever seen in my life. Cue morons looking for inbred poodles for the next year.

Many worry about Artificial Intelligence. I worry far more about Organic Idiocy.

I want to get a dog, but i'm not currently in a position to care for one as one should. So i've been looking at getting a cat. They're more self sufficient. But, it just doesn't seem right a single guy getting a cat as a pet...
You need to read Under the Paw, by Tom Cox. You won't have any hesitations about getting a cat then;)

So dogs are gross because they will but cats won't? A cat licks its bum, cleans the rest of itself, then you pet it, that's not really as gross?
A dog will roll around on the ground where God knows what has been and then we pet it, what is your point? Yes a cat does have bacteria in it's saliva, but their saliva also contains an enzyme that is a growth factor and amongst other things, it controls bleeding and blood clots, which may go some way to explaining why cats lick their wounds.

Also there's been a lot of research done into the healing benefits of having a cat, one of the many is that the frequency of a cats purr can help human injury and stroking a cat is known to reduce blood pressure in both humans and cats. I love dogs but I'm always going to prefer cats.

I remember seeing a TV program once where they compared the bacteria levels in a dogs mouth with that from samples of dishcloths and sponges from a number of peoples' kitchens. Guess which was dirtier? Spoiler:
    It wasn't the dog's mouth :)

Have kept both Cats and Dogs (and Chickens, Ducks and other birds). I don't understand the Cat people vs. Dog people thing as both are great pets. +1 on Terriers being excellent ratters, they'll make a mess of rats that are big enough to give a cat trouble. As long as they get along you can easily have both.

I love my cats! well one of them drives me insane but I still love the fluffy bollox! I have four cats and a dog, my poor bf is allergic to both so has to drug himself with antihistamines everyday he's here D: he mustn't mind too much though because he's wanting to move into this death trap soon :P

No, its the fact that they toilet inside. Its usually the house not the cat that smells.

Not all cats pee inside, my cat pees outside. I like cats but I'm not obsessed with them.

I prefer dogs. I love all of the doggies. <3

I'm a woman and I don't like cats at all. Dirty smelly creatures.

You might think that now but it'll happen later
