Golf Rule Question

    Hello all,
i have a quick question regarding the use of a binocular/monocular when playing golf.

Most golf courses i played use different color flags to determine where the flag is positioned on the green.

Here lies the problem for me as im color blind and ive poor eyesight.

yes i wear glasses to help counter the poor eyesight. But i have no way to 'level the playing field' in regards flag positioning. Sometimes i've been unable to see the flagstick/flag due to the green background due to colorblindness.

Would it be legal for me to use a monocular to see the flag position??
i know some greens are hidden and it would be useless, but a high percentage i could use it.

I didnt wanna buy it without asking the legal ruling on it.

    Any help would be appreciated.
    Sean

There is no problem using them at all Sean so you can fire away. I looked it up and it's covered in the decisions - 14-3/3.

Would i have to get a letter from doctor/optician to use the device during a competition?

No letter needed. If however the binoculars have range finding capability, you will need to consult the club's local rules regarding distance measuring devices.
