Yup. Bumpers are being resprayed in six weeks or so anyway. Still abit of electrical tape gave a perfect line along the seam.

Will post up pics later as phone isn't setup with a free image hosting site yet.

Quick question chaps - wasn't sure if merited a whole thread of its own - but just wondering about the 4 wheel drive system on the
Mk 1 Hyundai Santa Fe (the 2001 to 2006 model) - and the NCT test.

Am I right in thinking that because its not a selectable 4 wheel drive system (can't turn off 4 wheel drive) - it can't go on the rollers for the brake test.

Have heard (on forums) of a Defender and an Audi with quattro suffering damage due to been put on the rollers for the brake test.

First time putting a yoke with permanent 4 wheel/all wheel drive through the NCT.

    Thanks guys

I think the tester just drive the jeep around the centre and test it manually by driving it. I could be way of though but I think I heard this is how it's done.

    That's what I heard too.

Normally I don't bother going in with the family yokes for the test.

May have to make an exception with this one though :( - my lot ASSUME officialdom knows what its at .

    I am a bit more sceptical/cynical :D

Hopefully the pedantic nature of the last NCT tester* I encountered will follow through for testing permanent 4 wheel drive vehicles correctly.

*No car on the test lane - but still wouldn't test ours until the person booked in before us - turned up - even though when we checked in - there was no sign of said person

Do not ever assume that someone employed to test cars all day every day can tell or even suspect that an SUV shaped vehicle (never mind something less obvious) has 4wd.

Hastened the demise of my bangernomics Honda CRV with a good session on the rollers.

Id stick a note on the steering wheel. "this 4wd vehicle is equipped with 4wd and should be tested as a 4wd" probably a little longwinded.

"!!!4WD!!! No roller brake test!!!" should cover you.

I completely agree one shouldn't assume.

Well worth making sure the test is in a suitable manner - im not having the transmission broke because someone didn't realise it needed to be tested differently :(

Ouch, just found out my car's been either clocked or had its engine replaced back in 2007 :(
    24/04/2012 257,495 Kms (160,000 Mls) INMR 26/10/2008 154,497 Kms (96,000 Mls) INMR 18/12/2007 145,475 Kms (90,394 Mls) INMR 19/11/2007 234,119 Kms (145,475 Mls) INMR

So in theory, it has 228k miles :pac: BMW makes good engines alright :D

Condition for that mileage ain't too bad either

Still, with the price I paid for it, not complaining :p

I'll clock it once more, do a LHD conversion and sell it in Poland :pac:

The moral of the story is: Motorcheck it, so you don't regret it :D

    Oh, thats ****.

Are you gonna get in touch with the owner?

It was clocked in 2007, and it had 3 owners in the meantime, little did he know probably, all checks out except mileage, so not too bad like

Wouldn't be put off by 230k if it said that in the ad - these straight sixes can do colossal mileage.

This is why you motorcheck Before not after :p

    However !

Look above at 18/12/2007 145,475 Kms (90,394 Mls) INMR 19/11/2007 234,119 Kms (145,475 Mls) INMR

Looks like someone made a mistake entering milage along the way and it's not been clocked

Haha, so it all checks out :D

Will do a Motorcheck before buying one in the future for sure :D

    Jammy!

I had the most frightful drive home due to Ankela Merkel at the converntion centre, finished early but spent an hour and a half getting home.

And don't get me started on the pedestrians as the schools run out.

Thinking of buying an auto, knee just can't cope with traffic, thoughts?

    Current considerations are

    SLK
    Accord
    CLK

So what's on the car mileage wise now must be high if the was 160k on it in 2012.

Uh oh, it's finally happening. The demise of the performance petrol engine! arrghh. Ford announces a daysul ST! :O. Some boo off her lad ¬¬.

I know there's a mondeo st but this is hot hatch territory.

Will sell like hot cakes if they bring it here. Just like the vrs does relative to the petrol one. I'd consider one for getting to and from work.

I'd rather the Ecoboost to be fair.

Speaking of which, there doesn't seem to e any Ecoboost Fiestas for Hire in Zante.
    Very annoyed about that.

Anyone know what the 1.2 TSI Polo is like? Worth an extra €30-€40 for the week over a Panda?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,031 ✭✭✭Bpmull

    At least it's not a 1.6tdci.

Who wouldn't, but anyone covering decent mileage would feel the pinch.

They've meant to do well on a long trip though, aren't they?
With a long 6th gear on them I'm sure they could rival the "performance" diesel.

I'd have a Panda. They're really excellent cars.

This is my thinking, just thought if ask around a I know little about the VAG.
I wish they offered the Polo GTI and Panda 100 instead of base spec cars. :p
