I can't take either of them seriously for some reason.

Have you seen Lawless I thought Tom Hardy was very good in that.

Also forgot to mention Liev Schreiber

    Matt Damon.

Coolest over recent years, consistently, I'll have to second Brad Pitt.

Man of the hour, Kevin Spacey. Absolutely love him in House of Cards. What a presence and yet has that bit of ironic quality, too.

McConnaughy I don't know. Didn't see Dallas buyers club but in True Detective he does this over stereotype, macho, hard done by chain smoker semi intellectual, very deep kinda guy thing that is just too much for my liking. I don't buy it.

    Cary Grant.

Oh wait, how recent is recent?

It's probably hard to define 'of all time' because each generation differs.

Nah, couldn't agree with either. I reckon one of us need to look up the definition of cool :)

I would perhaps sub Dicaprio for Fassbender, how he hasn't won an oscar yet I just don't know.

Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen. Can play anything and look cool doing it.

    He looks like a rapist.

Bryan Cranston for TV, Michael Fassbender for Movies.

I like Breaking Bad, but Bryan Cranston cool? The complete opposite.

If we're talking about all time: Patrick Stewart or Bill Murray

Currently: Michael Fassbender and Peter Dinklage :)

How could I forget: Charles Dance as Tywin Lannister. Terrifying.

Dinklage and Dance are epic in Game of Thrones, Aiden Gillen too.

Ryan Gosling in Drive gets my vote!

Have you seen him in Once Upon a Time, the guy is an evil slime ball in both roles, fantastic actor.
I've never seen him in anything else, but just from BB I can agree with you, amazing presence. His chicken gives KFC a run for its money by all accounts as well!

    Must check that out!

Benedict Cumberbatch is apparently cool. Don't see it myself, he's a good actor but not a cool one. Too Geography teacher looking for me.

Steve McQueen in the original Thomas Crown Affair.
    More recently Raul Julia.

vKyle Chandler. Coach Taylor. Immensely likeable actor and seems a real man's man

Understated, yet also steals every scene he is in from everybody including Oscar winners.
Can also turn it up, fantastic yeller too. In Friday Night Lights, Zero Dark Thirty, Super 8, Argo, Wolf of Wall Street.

If they were to recast Indy or make an Uncharted movie, he's your guy.

David Strathairn. Really hope the massive recognition he deserves will come his way eventually.

great character actor, he was superb in Good Night And Good Luck, LA Confidential and the Bourne sequels too, he's one of those "that guy from that thing" actors which is a shame as his profile was raised a lot after his oscar nomination. Definitely deserves to be more well known.

Having recently rewatched Deadwood, Ian McShane's still da man.

Yep, Lovejoy's cool folks, he just needed to ditch the mullet.

How many inches would that be? He'd so some damage to the cervix anyway I'd say.
