All the people who are so proud that they're eating meat tomorrow, who are you socking it to? Most people will be eating meat tomorrow, but won't be thinking about it... if you're thinking a lot about it, are you as detached from the church as you think you are?

No, as part of general tradition of the Catholic faith and in honour of the memory of the vast majority of the excellent & decent Clergy who have devoted their lives to the betterment of the community.

Personally I'd genuinely never heard of this not eating meat on Ash Wednesday thing until today.

Tomorrow, I'm going to cover myself in ash and then sacrifice a goat on the Hill of Tara while eating a banana.

Oh great, now I have to climb that b*astard of a hill in the dark at this hour and try find my goats so I can bring them down, keep them safe from your sooty-pawed carnivorous cravings.

No but I gave up all meat except fish a few years ago. Before that I wouldn't eat meat on ash weds or good fri- more out of tradition than anything else.

As I have said I won't eat meat tomorrow and couldn't care who eats it or not but people going out of their way to eat meat just because it's a fast day is a bit sad

They are made from the burned palms from the previous years Palm Sunday - that's what they're supposed to be made from anyway.

To answer the OP I will be eating meat tomorrow probaby as i'm not religious.

In your opinion its pointless. The poster has said that for a number of reasons, they want to fast.
    Why are you confused?

Obviously it's my opinion, why do people point this out?
Number of reasons? There was one  in that it was always done.

and confused because eating fish isn't fasting.

Of course I'll be eating meat tomorrow, my OH made a big pot of chili today and it's always better on the second day :D

Also, I'm not religious so no justification for *not* eating meat tomorrow.

I will not be eating meat tomorrow, and I will fast throughout the Lenten period.

Its a solemn time of year for us Catholics. If you want to disrespect that, then go ahead and eat meat, you won't find me complaining.

I have nothing but pity for people who gain some kind of satisfaction in trying to rile up genuinely spiritual people who sacrifice during this time of year.
