Doing that cos I hate pancakes, love meat and despise being told what to do!

I'm doing it because absolutely no power or law in this country is telling me, you or the OP what to do. This isn't like Good Friday.

No I won't & never have. Will be a scrumptious fish dish for me tomorrow :)

'Ash Wednesday is a day of strict fasting and abstinence from all meat and foods made with meat. This fasting and abstinence remind us that Lent is a penitential season', so I was raised to believe. Done me no harm to date, so why wouldn't I continue!

No meat for me on Ash Wednesday :)

If it's a day of fasting though, I don't see what's such a sacrifice about having fish instead, especially a delicious fish dish.

Never understood it either. Mmm fish pie, nommy.

A bit of an insult to vegetarians/vegans....they be doing all of the sacrificing all of the time.

I never eat meat. Before being a veggie, we always had to eat fish on Good Friday when I lived with my parents, that was the only day really that there wasn't some form of meat for dinner. To be honest I didn't even realise tomorrow is a black fast day.

You get priority boarding to Heaven for your troubles.

When you think about, it's a bit ridiculous. :P Maybe I'm over-thinking it.

In your opinion its pointless. The poster has said that for a number of reasons, they want to fast.
    Why are you confused?

I was going to make a joke in relation to meat and paedophiles but decided it was too low, even for me.

I will more likely than not eat some meat. Although it's Wednesday so it'll be fish for lunch. Dinner as yet is unplanned. It may not contain any meat, so there is a small chance I will unwittingly be observing Ash Wednesday though not by design. I also couldn't give 2 fcuks what anyone else is having to eat or their motives.

They can be sold at Easter and Christmas! There will be chocolate jesus advent calenders and chocolate jesus eggs.

    "Chocolate Jesus"

Don't go to church on Sunday
Don't get on my knees to pray
Don't memorize the books of the Bible
I got my own special way
Bit I know Jesus loves me
Maybe just a little bit more

I fall on my knees every Sunday
    At Zerelda Lee's candy store

Well it's got to be a chocolate Jesus
    Make me feel good inside
Got to be a chocolate Jesus
    Keep me satisfied

Well I don't want no Anna Zabba
    Don't want no Almond Joy
    There ain't nothing better
    Suitable for this boy
    Well it's the only thing
    That can pick me up
Better than a cup of gold
    See only a chocolate Jesus
    Can satisfy my soul

    [Solo]
    When the weather gets rough
And it's whiskey in the shade
It's best to wrap your savior
    Up in cellophane
He flows like the big muddy
    But that's ok
    Pour him over ice cream
    For a nice parfait

Well it's got to be a chocolate Jesus
    Good enough for me
Got to be a chocolate Jesus
    Good enough for me

Well it's got to be a chocolate Jesus
    Make me feel good inside
Got to be a chocolate Jesus
    Keep me satisfied

No, as part of general tradition of the Catholic faith and in honour of the memory of the vast majority of the excellent & decent Clergy who have devoted their lives to the betterment of the community.

It's only two days of the year and I have no issue with anyone eating meat it's just my preference aswell as getting my ashes
