But you do understand that criminals can be found not guilty in court on some occasions?

Of course, and innocent people are wrongly convicted on some occasions as well. Works both ways.

My view of it here is that some people just like to believe what they want to believe. With his conviction and imprisonment for drugs offences, the intense media speculation and that film about Ms Guerin, we've ended up in a situation where John Gilligan is, in the court of public opinion at least, absolutely guilty of her murder.

Legally, that's not the case at all. But, like I said, people will believe what they want to believe in the end, and murder befits his character (as portrayed in the film anyway). Never underestimate the power that media has in the shaping of public opinion.

Really, not mine... fingers crossed he lives and is in serious pain every single day of his miserable life!

Likes of you make me sick.

That's the level of humanity we have in the world.

Wishing pain and suffering on others.

Doesn't matter one iota to me if the man is literally the Devil re-incarnated. The whole world is in bits largely because of the likes you wishing to continue the cycle of pain and suffering by wishing it upon others.

If it makes you feel better that a 61 year old, who is a very bad person, is now suffering and in pain, great, have a good day and have a good life going around wishing pain, suffering and misery on every bad person in the world.

Here's an idea, and it's only an idea, but instead of spending your lives wishing more misery and suffering in this already depressing world, do one positive thing to change the world.

You can start here if you like:

An hour you waste wishing more misery on bad people could be better spent offering an hour of support to those the bad people have wronged.

Give it a rest will ya, nobody in this country has even a modicum of sympathy for Gilligan. A man who has done as much harm as he has deserves to suffer. He never thought twice about heaping suffering on others, and then every photo he has taken shows him smirking. You reap what you sow. Its pontificating dogooders that make me sick...

So I suppose you'd say that if Hitler had gone to jail for, lets say 20 odd years, then he would have paid his debt to society? Grow up and give it a rest will you?

They should get him in for a guest appearance in love hate. Imagine Nidge meeting up with Gilligan to organise a transaction. Or they could get Fran to kill him and he survives but fran is wearing the mask so then the papers say that Gilligan says it was a Halloween prank and then Nidge kills fran for making them a laughing stock.

that would make a little bit of sense if the jail time handed down was fair, more often than not it's way too lenient so this 'debt to society' C*ap doesn't wash with me.

In the words of Ra's al Ghul:

Criminals thrive on the indulgence of society's understanding. Your compassion is a weakness your enemies will not share.

In other words, you live by the sword, you die by the sword.

    RTE website has this headline

" Gardaí are treating a gun attack on convicted drug dealer John Gilligan as attempted murder".

Am I being stupid here, but what else could it be?

I suppose it couldn't be brushed off as a Hallowe'en prank given that it's February.
