A band led by two guitarists from London's East End, moving from skiffle to psychedelia to heavy metal, who should have packed it in around 30 years ago.

But enough about Spinal Tap, Status Quo rock! :D

Some day I'll do a mashup of 'Pictures of Matchstick Men' by Quo, and 'Matchstick Men and and Matchstick Cats and Dogs' by Brian and Michael.

Surprised they didn't edit out Paul Gambaccini from this repeat.

He was arrested, but I don't think he has been charged with anything.

If found guilty, Gambo will be going 'Down Down'.

    I'll see myself out.

It's a travesty that there is only one surviving Kenny Everett TOTP. He was a Genius.

Pfft, as if I ever take it off*.

*Except on disco night, of course.

Edit: at an unexpected social evening. Figured it'd be okay to miss Euro-LLS!

The LLS Eurosong is kicking off, it's great.

    See you later!

    Sabbath!!

'Paranoid', 'Iron Man' and 'War Pigs' were the first songs I learned on guitar.

    All hail Iommi!

    Ah, BBC Four

An oasis of tranquility, compared to certain other channels :)

*wrestles with conscience over whether or not to come out of the BS closet*

    Right, here goes...

I never really got into Black Sabbath.

Not saying they ain't good, and i realise this does serious damage to my rock credentials, but.. well there you go...

    *hangs head in shame*

Caught the end of LLS. Didnt go into the thread, seemed awful busy. And not particularly happy!

It's Linda Martin again! Oh no, wait...it's Ronnie Wood :pac:

LLS show was funny...accusations, finger pointing, shouting, Marty Whelan's wig...good times

    Ah Donie, it was magnificent.

The show was mental, the thread was brilliant.

There wasn't a single argument I can remember. Just people having a bit of craic, like it should be. A huge number of posts.

This yodel fella should shut it.

    I'm feeling in a good mood - release...A hound.

I realize Sabs may not be everyone's cup of tea, but their influence on heavy metal is immeasurable. First album practically invented the genre (yet sadly gave birth to yodelling morons like Focus)!

It's always something of a culture shock, switching over to BBC4 on a Friday night. Especially tonight.

Even Hocus Pocus, by Focus, is less mental than tonight's Late Late.

    A puppeh, maybe?

Some day guitar heroes will have either EVH, Page or SRV on it.

I've a special beer for that day.

Keep meaning to get something by Nils Lofgren. Every time he turns up on bbc 4 I'm impressed.

    That's very nice.

If you missed the LLS, brace yourself for Oirish stereotyping in Copenhagen this May!

Don't think Van Halen ever recorded anything for the OGWT - if I recall they toured the UK with Sabbath in 1978, but didn't stop in during their travels to see Auntie Beeb :(

Saw the song that won at the end.

An unmemorable tune, some lads doing a jig (like we all do), girls in short skirts one of whom was playing a violin.

Wouldn't get the hopes up too high.

    Love this, mind you.

I'm singing it here if that helps.

    Helps me, anyway. :-)

It should be compulsory to post this whenever Ralph McTell appears on television...

I presume this is where the phrase "she really wails" originated.
