    http://www.independent.ie/irish-news/courts/concertgoer-sues-after-impaling-her-arm-on-gate-spike-at-slane-30048930.html

A drunk girl tries to climb over a gate to get out of a concert at Slane. Impales arm on said gate and is now suing the organizers. Of course people are entitled to compensation if the actions of others cause them injury. But some people seem to think their own idiocy warrants compensation.

I couldn't keep a stright face myself if I was in court detailing how the fact that I was hammered and tried to scale a fence was someone else's fault.:confused:

I love the comment from the defence:

"It is a very high gate with spikes on top designed to keep out knights and soldiers in war-time, and she decided to climb it," Mr Buckley said.

    Just saw she won - 75k :confused::confused::eek::eek:

She said she did not see exits and she went where she was told to go.

Why didn't she just turn back when she couldn't get out by there?

It'd never occur to me to consider climbing over a gate that'd be even half the size she tried.

Pity it was her arm and not her hole.

Over 4 metres (~13 foot) high and she thought that climbing it was her best option?

She is an idiot and I hope the case is thrown out like any other 'claim culture' type case.

She strikes me as one of those types who head to these things wearing high heels and expect the whole place to be laid out for them.

Such a pity that judges cannot merely throw these cases out but actually punish the people responsible for taking them.

What dumbass law firm took on this case for her?

Doesn't ambulance chasing represent the majority of what most firms do?

I agree, it's a waste of legal time and energy. Alas the letter of the law must be followed.

Hopefully the most likely outcome is a ruling in favour of MCD leaving her liable for their legal costs.

If she gets money for doing something so stupid, I will actually get angry!!

    What a f*cking tool.

    This gave me a giggle

    Yeah.. gtfo

The gate was over four metres high with spikes on top and her only option was to climb it, she said.

Why did she think that climbing over the gate was her only option? Could she not have just gone back to one of the other exits?

Exactly! I've done plenty of stupider things than her, and hurt myself.

    But I take full responsibility

    Only option?
She could have done a jig, played charades or turned back.

She doesn't seem short a few bob so can probably stand to lost the money for legal costs. She had VIP tickets, went to an after party in the castle and flew from Australia to give evidence at this case. Hope the judge throws her case out double quick. The dozy bint.

My favourite part is the fact that they referred to her as a young woman, and she's 27. :-) Thanks, Independent!

But in all seriousness, I could tell what she was going to look like before I even opened the link. i.e. a bad-fake-tan job on a dumb c nt. Annnnnd I was right.

It's the equivalent of someone going to a pub, bottling themselves in the face and then trying to bring a case against the pub for assault. Utterly ridiculous. Why can't people just accept responsibility for their own stupid actions?

Yep. Absolutely no other options or choices available there at all.

She said she had 4 or 5 drinks :D yeah right!!

Apparantly she was told by a security guard the exit was up the field, on the right. She went where she was told to go.

I reckon if you asked her to point to her right, she would point left!

In fairness, I remember it being *pitch* black after a concert in Slane before. The only thing that got me out was following the hoards. If they weren't there, it might have been difficult to get out.

Of course she was a dope to try to climb the spiked fence, but walking back down a pitch black dirt track may not have seemed like a super idea either. (I'm assuming it was very dark)

She could have bent forward, get her head stuck in the railings and let the lads line up to give her a go

They would be want to be standing on each other's shoulders given that it was a 13 foot high fence.
