Stumbled across this article from 2009 in which Dublin was voted the most friendly city in Europe but was also voted one of the three most over rated and boring cities in Europe.

    http://www.irishexaminer.com/archives/2009/0504/world/dublin-voted-friendliest-capital-ndash-but-so-over-rated-and-boring-90955.html

That prompted me to have a look on TripAdvisor for tourist reviews of Dublin. Some of the comments are priceless: :D

"Dublin has had a reputation for being one of the world's coolest and most fun cities so my expectations were high. However, my perception gradually changed from the moment I landed at the airport"

"the city is really boring after 1 week. I've been living here since the beginning of 2008 and I just want to leave and never come back. I can't do it now because I'm studying. I don't know what is making me feel so bored everyday here but I'm not the only one. All my friends feel the same."

That's definitely 100% of what those 2 people think of Dublin.

Most comments on trip adviser are ridiculous. Like I never knew Dubai was so hot( its the middle east) or why was such historical site so run down(many because its thousands of years old).

I dont think the fact bars and nightclubs close at 3am makes Dublin a party city. There is cities around Europe like Berlin were the clubs only start filling up at 1.30 am and in Dublin some are closing at that hour.

But if you cant find a few weeks worth of things to do in a city that is over 1,300 years old and so filled with histroy. You need to get your head examined. I love these people who wrote those comments to go to Shanghai. A city of 20 million people and we did everything of interest in 2 days

Dublin City is anything but boring - plenty of history, museums, live music, countless bars and clubs, comedy gigs, tours, shopping, people watching in the parks or just on the streets. There's always something to do.

Check out Allanah74's other other tripadvisor reviews. They are extremely uncool and boring, particularly from someone who calls herself a "business and travel journalist".

Dublin is a great city, lots to do. Its a bit of a bollix trying to find somewhere to have a coffee after 8pm and a but tricky to get a table in a restuarant after 10, but those are relatively minor drawbacks. Plenty to be doing, plenty of natural resources on hand if you like the outdoor stuff too.

Dublin might have its fair share of problems like most city's but it could never deemed as boring, there's always lots to see and do.

Theres plenty to do but chances are you could go somewhere else and get better or more. You could spend days watching the migration patterns of junkies from when they hop on the luas with their travel pass or by threatening any other creature that questions them. Then at the end of the day you can see them returning home with their gatherings of spare change and dutch gold. Fascinating creatures.

Dublin is fine as long as you dont have to get public transport (the luas is every commuters worst nightmare), interact with te locals scrots, drink, work, eat and live here.

Its a bit like the moon actually, it looks nice from afar, but i wouldnt like to live there.

I'd say its good for a weekend break if you're from Europe but I don't understand why you'd come here for a week? I wouldn't go to any European city for more than 4 days.

I wouldn't say that Dublin is boring but I think you'd have to be in some way interested in our history to fully enjoy the attractions. I think some tourists feel like it should be non-stop 24/7 craic the minute they get off the plane. It definitely is not.

Born and raised there, glad I made the decision to leave the KIP.

Why is it a "kip"? There are far more places in the world that are worse off than Dublin. Count yourself lucky lad.

I moved to Dublin 14 years ago and traveled in probably 50 different countries since moving here, and there is no other place in the world I would rather live. I love Dublin, and certainly cannot be considered boring! There is always something to do, it's easy to meet people, etc. etc.

Sounds like they were there for more than 1 week. Wouldn't you think they'd have the cop on to go on a day trip outside ffs or go somewhere else in the country.

Depends what you're interested in, there's a number of soccer clubs with cheap entry and gaa in croke park as well.

Most would view Derry City as boring but as a fan of history i don't

I am lucky, I made the decision to leave the KIP when when I did.
Life is far more richer and healthy in my adopted county.

The problem with Dublin in a nutshell is that it lacks variety. most of the bars save the same drinks with the same clientel and the same decor. Now if you like that - and many do - power to you.

But if you don't well, then frankly yes - it is a boring city.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.
