So while we all have favourite bands, who did you actually shell out money for? Basically, who do you have more CDs of than anyone else? And do you still listen to them? Are you not sure how you ended up with them? Maybe you went through a phase thinking Bon Jovi were the greatest band of all time and bought their entire back catalogue?

For me I have 11 Super Furry Animal CDs. They are still one of my favourite bands, so I do still listen to them a fair bit. Santana coming in second with 8, although 5 of those were in a box set.

But I just wonder who people actually shelled out money for. I'm guessing we'll see a few blur and oasis, rem and u2, bob dylan and tom waits. And hopefully a few embarrassing surprises!

Bruce Springsteen and Tom Waits roughly tied. Neil Young not far behind.

    The rest nowhere.

I have 20 studio album releases of Sparks (you know - big in 70's and the keyboard player had a weird Hitler/Chaplin moustache) on vinyl.
They were not very expensive with the exception of 1 or 2 and I suppose they're prolific enough to have released >20 in a 40 year career and still going.

I’ve every Smiths album on tape and CD and probably 90% of them on vinyl.

    I love him.

Pile of Eggs. The tapes are getting harder to find, now :(:( . Really fun noisy rubbish made in Steve Eggs' basement.

Pearl Jam, Beck or Ryan Adams are all in or around the 16/17 mark. Even though I still buy CDs, I would just upload them straight to iTunes. A lot of my newer CDs have never been actually played.

No they don't. I don't think I've ever bought any Who records.

I'm going to sound like a dick here, but since I have internet anonymity I might as well be honest.

Having 18 Garth Brooks albums confuses me. Someone who buys 18 albums by one artist must be a big music fan, but someone who loves music couldn't possibly love Garth Brooks that much. It's a contradiction that could keep me awake at night!

I know I'm wrong to think like that, but I genuinely find it hard to get my head around.

The most CDs I own by any one artist would be 6, by Stevie Wonder. That includes a 'Best of' too, though :o

Elvis Costello. I am a huge fan but the length of his career, quantity of out put and variety of output (Angry punk, country, folk, classical, covers, collaborations, jazz, solo. with The Attractions, The Imposters, The Roots yadda yadda) made for a pretty big presence on my iTunes.

    Pink Floyd,

got the shine on box set, all albums, singles, book, artwork and i have a few vinyls too, closely followed by Nirvana (albums on CD and vinyl including bleach on white), got really rare recordings, the singles, limited edition stuff.

After that probably zeppelin, then Metallica and then Damien Rice
