I'd be a bit of a ranter tbh, usually work stuff - someones f'd up or whatever and in fairness, to avoid getting locked up, you can't tell them to their face. I'd be driving along in the van or whatever, giving out to the windscreen full flow, then I'd cop someone watching and do the old "On handsfree here, nothing to see, move along" maneuver..

I had a full blown, nasty argument with myself and fell out after. We still havent spoken:(

    Yes I do.

Not full blown conversations, but more problem solving, and loads of observations. Plenty of silly noises and one liners....woooblewooblewooooble.

Nothing mad about it in my opinion! Helps me get my head straight!

On my own I like talking like Christopher Walken.

Yes and if I get caught, I pretend I'm talking to someone on the phone.

Even if I don't have it with me.

Ha. I do this too. A bit like Jimmy in The Commitments

When you read words do they sound like your voice?

I've a couple of people to talk to, funnily enough they have the same voice as me. One answers me and rationalises things and the other just chats away to himself ranting about things and how great he is.

You're aiming too low Vitani, I practice my Nobel Prize acceptance speech.

Sometimes I do it purely to work out something in my mind. Verbalizing your thoughts on something, even to yourself, is useful in realizing things.

I speak to myself in Spanish to practise and talk to myself when I'm at home alone. I've caught myself talking to myself in public a few times which was a bit of a shock and makes me wonder do I do it more often than I think....

I used to do it in supermarkets -

"Ok Candie don't go home without the milk, get the milk next before you forget it.."

I'd still forget the milk though.

Yeah that kind of thing! Caught myself last Friday mouthing, "Oh here's my stop" on the Metro! Scarla' O'Hara!

If I'm trying to remember something (shopping list, travel route etc) I'll say it out loud, but usually when nobody else is around. Or when I'm watching a match I'll be giving out, completely involuntarily!

One of my housemates is constantly talking to himself. I often hear him in the kitchen and think he has a friend over or our other housemate is in there, and then I walk in and he's alone.

Off topic slightly but scarlet and transport related. I was once absent mindedly put my hand out to hail a Luas like you would a bus in front of everybody at a packed Luas stop.

It only becomes a problem when you give each of the voices a name.
and when these voices want to have more than just their two cents.

Just occupy yourself with something other than spending your day staring out the window at people entering and leaving the park ;)

I don't so much talk to myself, but I'll chat away to inanimate objects. Like when I lose something and find it again I'll say - oh, there you are. Or I'll tell my mirror it could be cleaner. Or tell my table to move over. Or if I'm trying to find my way somewhere and using Maps app I'll chat away to my phone about taking the second left and stuff.

    I like talking. :)

    :pac:

you should have let the Luas pass, then repeated the action, this time shouting "TAXI!" I'm sure that would have restored your dignity.

What was worse was that instead of fleeing the scene, I was kinda paralyzed with mortification and just got on the tram with everybody and stared at the floor for the journey.

I don't know how many times I've thanked the ATM over the years!

I remember when I was younger and would go somewhere with my dad in the car. He pop into a shop to get something and I'd see him walking towards the car talking to himself and laughing and he'd get into the car and it turns out he was basically going over the conversation he'd just had with the shop assistant to himself out loud. I remember I was dying from mortification in the car hoping no one would see him doing it when he was making his way towards the car . He's a perfectly sane, normal man and I don't think he ever realised he was doing it though until I was old and cheeky enough to tell him.
