I think it depends on who you're dealing with in there tbh. There's a good man at the helm but that doesn't mean all physios are created equally.
I know those guys frequent this forum so don't want to say too much.

I miss running:( It's only been 3 days but feels like 3 weeks. Could have tried a run today but decided to challenge myself this morning to give it another day of rest and not to run today. Just about managed it and actually very proud of myself that I found the motivation not to run:D
I think the break is good from a mental point of view along with a physical one. I think I'm too dependant on running for my kicks so the time-out is good to put things into perspective. I said to my bf on Sunday that this injury/strain whatever it is is 'the worst thing that could possibly happen to me' which is just stupid and ridiculous and childish. Obviously it's not quite that important:o I think:)
Did 3 really good sessions of AIS the last few days and finding myself really enjoying it. The Phil Wharton video is excellent and I watch it as I'm doing it and getting the hang of it now. Managed to find my tfl also and gave that a little massage with the roller.
Glute feels good today and can't feel any strain and hip feels good and small sore spot at knee is gone so it feels like I should be ready to get back in the game soon.
Lovely walk up Hellfire today. What an amazing day. Perfect day for ..well... a run...

I'm sure you won't be kept out for too long Ososlo. I've been keeping up with your log since the beginning and you've got some great training behind you so far this year and I'm sure that will improve as the year goes on. Enjoy the rest if you can!;)

    thanks rob:D
Took another rest day. Not a peep from the glute (every f***ing time I type the word "glute" it turns into f***ing "flute":mad::mad::mad:)
Hip feels great. Did a very fast mile walk tonight and all good so almost set to go. Part of me is slightly scared to try a run just in case it's not a success...
    4 full days of rest.
    Tomorrow is D-Day.
    Fingers crossed

Best of luck tomorrow hope it goes well for you, you have showed great restraint not going out on a run and risking further injury.

    Best of luck tomorrow

ha yes I really surprised myself there. Restraint is not usually my forte.

Ososlo (Catching up on your log.......I've only now realised how this username reads......for the last 15 months I've only been wondering what the he'll is your connection to the capital of Norway). :)

Anyway. Yanno what.....this place is great.....to a point. Fantastic place for encouragment and motivation. But I have learned it can become a hinderance to progress at times.....like when you're injured, and motivation to go out running becomes a bad thing. That's why I've disappeared off here for the last 3 weeks or so (you BETTER have noticed).......You see loads of people making great progress and you become so desperate to try and keep up, you can find it harder and harder to keep your patience with an injury and you could quickly start finding it becoming counter productive being here coz you badly want to report good progress of your own in your own log. That's my experience anyway....and Im only starting to come back here now that Im doing well again.

The other thing is....as you know......VERY important to get the right physio. Your issues sound very like mine but not as bad (hopefully). Sounds like you'll be grand in no time.....if you keep patience.....and take a sabbatical from this place if it is making it harder to.

    I'm back:D Couldn't be happier at this moment. :)
3 completely pain free miles at an "I couldn't care less how slow they were pace" but no twinges, no pain, nothing!
Skipped work for the afternoon, did a 30 minute A.I.S. session and headed off. Never been so nervous going on a run before! Ran very gingerly for the first mile but relaxed into it after a bit and thoroughly enjoyed it:D
I still can't believe I felt so good.
If this is down to A.I.S. then it's a little piece of magic but I've only been doing it 5 days so that might be a silly thing to say but I stopped doing the physio exercises at the same time as I felt they were making me worse and giving me extra issues like a sore hip. She was trying to get me in for 2 sessions every week for the next 5/6 weeks:eek:
I'll tread extremely carefully for the next few runs and all going well we'll take it from there:D

yep that's the plan, keep it extra slow to ease back into it over the next few runs. I'll definitely be backing off if anything feels awry.
LOL I probably should have put a 'W' at the end of my username but it just didn't look right with one.

If you manage to remember to do it, could you do a review of your experience with AIS in a couple of weeks time. Sounds like it's working so It'd be interesting to hear more when the novelty has worn off and real improvements are confirmed.
Good to see you back at it!

Now that you are back on the road I feel it's a good time to tell you that you were asking for injury.

For someone that's relatively new to running, a 25 day or whatever it was running streak is absolutely crazy. You need to balance your enthusiasm with a sensible approach to training otherwise you'll be cconstantly picking up niggles.

With all due respect Gavlor I don't think you're right here. I know my body very well in relation to running at this point and know that I can handle mileage very well as long as it's low level effort. I would have done similar running streaks last year when I was even newer to running and there was never a problem. I run my recovery runs easier than most (up to 3.5 min per mile slower than my 5k race pace) and when I added in the extra day per week that was even slower at times.
The problem for me was undoubtedly the hills and especially the hill sprints along with the interval work on the flat, but especially the hills. That's obviously where my weak spot is - the glutes - as these are being worked (excessively) for the first time in my running life so I'm currently working on strengthening these up.
2 physios said similar to me.

Not one niggle from February 2013 to February 2014 and not one day's running missed due to 'niggles' whilst running 6/7 days a week up to 55 miles a week as a newbie.
    I'll say no more;)

keeping with the series, this is how to release you glutes. I use a sliotar for this when it is really bad instead of a foam roller. PS you have to replace your foam roller like once a year if you use it a lot (something tells me you do). I have the grid also but the foam roller is better.

    Don't mind him, it's early, he's narky.
Running 5 times in 1 week is a streak for him.

Sorry, was busy getting a podium finish in a half mara.

Did I not specifically refer to a 25 day running streak??

6 days a week is fine but a rest day is crucial.
