About time too, I was surprised when those bumper l.e.d.s appeared on unmarked vehicles a few years ago.

I think the excuse was always that there not undercover but unmarked. Still a stupid idea to have them so obvious, they might aswell of been marked. It'll be a good few years before all the obvious unmarked cars are retired though:o.

Surely it's just cost saving not to mark them.

Lights are right infront of the gearstick, Radios in the glove along with the front lights which is on suction cups, It was annoying when just driving around so it was taken down.
Siren was more of a whale sound than anything else. Must be broken..unless there's a nack to putting it on.
Just like how you have to start the car. You can have to clutch it.

Don't know why they insist on still using suction cups when there are far more effective, and discreet options available, which are already in use.

The dash light is probably just on suction cups. Same as the unmarked Avensis.

    It is alrite

Just like the Avensis too. Does it have an electronic brake? They have no place in a police car.

Re unmarked/undercover discussion regarding visible lights

    Proper hidden lighting

    ....

    Some other u/u stuff
I don't understand what you are saying about those 3 vehicles. They may well be private vehicles belonging to members of AGS for off duty use.

    This too shall pass.

Re the visible/hidden strobes - The van and the Punto are AGS but with no visible LED's, the S-class had a big 'Garda Siochana - Official vehicle - On duty' stuck on the windshield so ...

..., it didn't get a parking ticket from an enthusiastic warden.

You'd never spot that punto or that van. I'd say they were used for lots of undercover work in the past. I also remember gardai driving a plain white punto a few years ago.

I wonder about that golf.. 98 D reg would be a good undercover car aswell..

Hazard a guess the van would be for scenes of crime (if that's what there called)

I imagine people would think twice about stopping for that fearing it wasn't gardai.

@ capri, if there are no other company signs on it then it is an AGS one. Have seen it a few times coming up to Dublin with a uniformed mule in it.

Probably scenes of crime examiner. They normally don't need blues but I think they've a dashlight if needed.

The old Donnybrook Berlingo was always used by the uniforms, marked but no blues or logo/branding on it AFIR.

Think that Donnybrook one was just used as a runaround as opposed to a patrol vehicle. I know the duty sergeant used to use it for driving around on match days at the aviva.

Could well be, or maybe ordered alongside some DF trucks, although alot of DF vehicles are also D reg.

Are the Gardai who were in that ramming incident ok?
Also where the culprits caught ( would much prefer to call them another name, but with respect to boards.ie, I won't ).
