Slept in my father's toolshed after a night on the lash,

Forgot my key and left my phone at home because it was new and I had no case for it. Tried knocking but gave up after a half hour.

Slept on a mouldy semi-damp couch that was in there, considerably more comfortable than everyone else's rough night.

Someone close to me was homeless for a year and he slept in a little hut he made in the grounds of Hume House.

Mate of mine arrived home pissed one christmas only to find himself locked out.
Decided to head for the coal shed only to find his father also pissed fast asleep curled-up in a load of coal bags.
    He snuggled up beside him.:D

Was outside the pub the other night and a homeless lad was trying to get some money or smokes off me. He was waiting to see if he'd get a place in the hostel and seemed happy enough that it wasn't so cold out. He told me some random person had kicked him in the face when he was sleeping rough a few nights earlier. It's bad enough having to deal with the elements without people being **** as well.

Spent 6 weeks sleeping rough in wales despite having a full time job ,
Slept mostly on benches on the local sea front ,
Have to say not my proudest moment in life,

Slept in a park in the middle of Downtown Chicago after the first night of Lollapalooza 2012. Flew in from NY that day so had no idea of the layout of Chicago or how to get to the hostel we'd booked. Being pie-eyed drunk didn't help. Lost all my mates I went with at the festival and couldn't remember which subway line I'd to take so just kipped on a bench with a few pigeons for company. Wasn't too bad as it was warm. Hate to have to do it here though.

Slept in an abandoned old house as a result of serious gambling issues having alienated and abused everyone I knew at the time. Never again.

Gambling or sleeping in an abandoned house?

I had to sleep on with a pea under a hundred mattresses once, some dude insisted on it after my asking could i take shelter on a stormy night.
I had a pea shaped bruise on my skin.
The next morning i complained and he wanted to marry me.
I said 'ah no you're grand.'

He was puzzled he had never before met an IRISH princess.

Handful of times, in a marquee in Roscommon after one severely messy night, once in Athlone on paddys day and twice in Amsterdam, one in Vondelpark and one in Schipol airport the day before moving back. Each time wasn't exactly my definition of fun.

What's vondelpark like at night ? Is it dodge ?

I stayed in the stayokay in January nice place :)

slept on a doorway across from San Francisco Bay, found some cardboard boxes and flattened them out. it was end of summer and chilly during the night. I had missed the last bus to LA and didnt have enough train fare, the next bus was too late to catch my fight at LAX. that was an epic adventure

Miami is a great place to sleep rough, as long as you can keep hydrated

Drove down to Courtown with a few pals back in the '90s.

Went to the big nightclub there & of course we all got locked.

We all slept in the van that night.

Next morning, we drove round the town & we saw loads of people sleeping outside on green areas.

They looked like the 'battlefield dead'. :D

Slept on the floor of some random hostel after being soaked in the rain and used my wet shoe as a pillow. That count?

I passed out in my friends back garden after an extensive night on the tatter. Was during the warm weather last summer though so it was grand.

Had to sleep rough in Belfast one night when me and a friend were stranded with no money. It sucked. I genuinely feel for those that have to do it all the time.

I'd blocked this out of my mind for 20 odd years.

    July 1993.
Interrailing and stopped off in Pamplona.

    Spent the night drinking.
Thought it was a fierce rough kinda place. Lots of locals seemed to have blood injuries. (Turns out they were gored).

Kipped rough in the local park with mates for about 2 hours.

Woken up to a large lady riding a very thin young fella about 20 feet away. He may not have been alive.

Then ran with the bulls at 8am.

Surprising how quickly ya can run after a night on the tear, when ya need to.

I once fell asleep on the ha'penny bridge in Dublin years ago. I was in bits with drink and it was a mild night and I just fancied a rest, as you do, and woke up eventually - miraculously unharmed with wallet intact.

Spent 5 days drinking and cycling around Kerry in the summer of 06. First two nights we stayed in a friends holiday home, last 3 were spent sleeping in fields. We were very lucky with the weather, no so much with the women.

Also slept rough in Germany outside a cinema, the late showing came out around one and were very bemused to see three badly sun burnt Irish cyclists lying on the side of the road.

Ha yeah, went on a stags in amsterdam and got lost so I gave up and sat in a doorway till it got bright. I was off me head on mushrooms and had plenty of weed so it was'nt as dickensian as being homeless.

Fell asleep at a bus shelter in Neilstown after a millennium party and a few too many whiskeys. Was woken by two Gardai who asked if I needed an ambulance, searched me,realised I wasn't a gouger and then drove me the 5 min journey home.

Family were away so I was spared the embarrassment of explaining why the cops were ringing the doorbell in the dead of night.

Locked out from home one night, sister had left the key inside the lock, no waking her. Went into the shed clear some room for a fold of deck chair, was a tad cold so I opened the dryer to see last nights towel run, stuck them back on for 120minute cycle, woke up at 6 to the dog barking to get in!!

That was a rough night, bloody sweaty as fook with the dryer on.

After doing the Leaving at 17 I left home for Birmingham - having convinced them that I had got a job and flat. No job or flat. Slept rough, washing myself and my clothes in public toilets. After two weeks I got a job as a barman and with my first weeks wages booked into a "gentlemen's hotel". This was a doss house with a plastic mattress but it was heaven to me. Stayed there for a week and then moved to a bedsit.
    Those were the days!

Airports definitely don't count, sleeping on the floor on a chair in an airport after camping at a festival is heaven.

Never slept rough but slept in a puddle inside my €15 Dunnes tent with my head on a soaked through rucksack. Oxegen 2006 NEVER FORGET....
