I never said it it would stop. I said you'd be so relaxed you would appear dead. I can't believe some people take this stuff so seriously.

You wouldn't appear very dead if your heart was beating away.

That trick is commonly done by having a small ball in your armpit - you press the ball against an artery that runs down the inside of your arm and the pulse in that arm, measured at the wrist, stops. Simples.

and the true origins of going "DeadAAAAAArm!" at the end of a trick.

Not many people knew that. ;)
Bit obvious though putting out your arms and shaking your hands to get the feeling back in them.

He might have regained his senses, shame the audience didn't. He's like a shyte version of David Blaine/Derren Brown. The Loncin of the entertainment world.

In fairness, Derren Brown is a shite version of Derren Brown.

He should have consulted Noel Edmonds beforehand.

I very much doubt you can train yourself to stop your heart from beating - slow it down sure, but stop it - no.

I sat down funny once and caught a testicle against my femoral artery. Keeled over like a stunned Ox - luckily, when I fell, my goolies shifted and circulation was restored. It was a close one. Never thought people would pay to see it though..

He was talking and moaning while his heart was "stopped".

I'll tell you now that that is a physical impossibility.

    One thing.
When his heart stopped the paramedics rushed him out the door, down the corridor and into his dressing room with no functional medical devices.

Back then "Brain hacker" would have a very different meaning. Nasty

    Just watched this episode.

Wasn't a dangerous stunt. Lying down surround by ice in a studio with an ambient temp of ~22deg. He wasn't sealed in. Wouldn't be exactly comfortable, but not at all dangerous nor life threatening.

He's a skilful illusionist. Not as good as Derren Brown.

I was given tickets for his show last year in the gleneagle. It was all staged. A guy came up to my friend before the show and asked her to go on and pretend to fall "asleep" and then imagine she was Michael Collins. Keith Barry then looked for a "random" member of the audience and up she went. He then asked her loads of questions that she had been given and he magically knew who she was even though she fcuked up a bit.

With the pulse stopping, you can train yourself to relax so much that no heartbeat or pulse is present so you appear dead. Special forces in the army and fbi and things like that would be trained with it.

    Magic isn't actually real.

    I'm sure that happened:rolleyes:

Was at a show once by a famous hypnotist. He had several people on stage being hypnotised. It was a very unreceptive audience and as he lost control of the volunteers one by one the audience turned a bit nasty. One girl after failing to be hypnotised starting arguing with him on stage telling him he was rubbish. He was left with 2 people and the show was pretty much a disaster.

One of the 2 was a friend who said afterwards he was told to play along. Exact words "That f---n bicth has f---d it up for me, just play along"

So I guess you could call that the power of suggestion.

So you think I made up a random story about a show in killarney for no reason? To tell to complete strangers online?

I suppose you will tell me magic is real and that unicorns exist too  lol

He was never in danger, it was not extremely dangerous or risky. It is pure entertainment like any of the soaps or wrestling on tv. Keith Barry is a cock anyway. He is an entertainer/con artist, not a mind reader or "brain hacker". Its gullible folk like yourself that keep hin in business.
Gullible? I wasn't even watching the show... I heard about it. I've never watched any of those brain hacker shows nor been to see him... So I'm definitely not one of those "gullible" people emptying out their pockets to go see him :p I just think he is incredibly foolish to be pulling a stunt like that, in real danger or not

Well at least I know what rhymes with 'stunt'.

I know a guy who in 2005 appeared as an extra for one of keith barry's television programs. Went on to say... well I guess I should quote him directly: "he came off as a prick"

Just hearing that always put me off watching him. But I clicked on this thread an hour ago so I thought I would give Keith Barry a chance. Went on to youtube and his first 2 brain hacker episodes are uploaded. Being honest I had to skip through them.

He just comes off as an imitator. Like i'm not magic nut fan. But I really like Penn and Teller and i've watched alot of various magic acts on youtube over the years. As you do when you are bored. Keith just comes off as an poorer irish version imitator.

But hey the chap is making money from doing it. So I guess who's the thick? me or him.

The fact that TV3, the company who own his show, are the only ones running this story, it's safe to say that is bollox.

His grandad was beaten up few years ago and that made news - rightly so - so it's safe to say that if Barry himself nearly died it'd be everywhere.
