Tried Mantle again after the patch today , still doesn't preform as good as DirectX for me . bit of stuttering and slower to get into the map at the start of a round .

I'm the same with Mantle, performs much worse than Dx for me.

Patched, game crashed every time I tried to deploy.
Did all the Win7 updates, updated my nVidia drivers, tried again.
Huzzah! In and playing and on a match that was being twitched as well which was funny - get killed, see myself getting killed 15 seconds later on twitch.

And then after a little under three minutes, same soundloop crash again. And every time I joined a game after that, soundloop crash in the deploy screen as soon as I hit deploy.

    /sigh

That'd be quite cool, if I could get the fupping base game to play...
What happened to freezing work on DLCs to fix the problems in the base game I wonder?

You're a software developer, right? That doesn't happen in reality, at least not when EA is involved! :D

I gave up about a week ago on PS4.

Gonna try it on next update see if they fix it, be a great game if it worked....

DICE / EA dont seem to be able to learn a single lesson.

Remember the we're not working on any DLC until the game is fixed line.

Well prepare for Naval Assault on the 30th March.

    Utter gob****es

Both I suppose, after all DICE no longer exists since they were bought by EA. I suppose the correct term would have been "EA Digital Illusions CE".
That's not really how the studio model works...
They were silly to announce this, and people were even sillier to believe it. DICE has over 300 employees. Every one of them (level designers for example) would not have been working on fixing the game. In other words, development of DLCs can mostly go ahead while the bugs are being fixed.
Yeah, but I read it as the dev teams being pointed at bugfixing and the gameplay people being pointed at the bug reports on gameplay (things like the MAA being able to own a large conquest map round on Lancang Dam).

I didn't expect that the janitor had to fix bugs all day instead of mopping floors, but now that I think about it, it would explain some of the QA issues their patches have been having... :D

I don't know anything about how the model works, merely pointing out a fact.

Either way, the argument "was it DICE or EA ?" doesn't hold any water. Whether DICE overstretched themselves by agreeing to an overly ambitious scope and timeframe, or simple weren't capable of completing the project to an acceptable standard, they must accept 100% of the blame.

Eh, no, it doesn't work that way. Really, it's very simple. EA own DICE, but DICE is a "wholly owned subsidiary". Which is corporate-speak for "EA gets the profit and the kudos, DICE gets the deadlines and the blame". So if you're yelling at DICE for releasing too early, not having enough QA people on staff or time for them to work, or that kind of thing, you're probably doing the equivalent of storming into the anglo offices back when they were open, grabbing the 22-year-old young wan behind the counter by the lapels and screaming into her face about how she personally ruined the Irish Economy.

So DICE are the good guys and I should blame EA for the state of the game ?
I'm expected to believe that DICE told EA the game wasn't ready, but EA forced them to release it anyway - wiping millions off their share value, exposing them to lawsuits from investors and so on...why ? because they hate money and being a successful business ??? Hah.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,038 ✭✭✭✭Sparks

No, I'm saying you blame DICE for technical screwups and EA for strategic screwups, including those which comprimise the technical side of things. If your boss says "this gets shipped on friday, regardless" and there's still a month's work to do on friday despite your best efforts, the fault is not yours.

As to the share value and lawsuits, those are next quarter's problems. I'd love to see things like how many EA suits left the company just after getting their "we shipped!" bonus, or even just how many got that bonus and whether it was large enough for them to ignore the incoming poopstorm that the release was going to cause.

It would not be the first time a large US company ran into the ground at full speed so a few suits could get their bonus for the quarter just before the impact before jumping ship...

So - DICE model every ACE rifle going, but leave out the Vector, the G11, the REC7 or the XM8? That's on DICE. BF4 gets shipped too early to try to steal market share from COD Ghosts? That's on EA, as is the QA issues it causes.

Just hit your PS4 with a large sledgehammer, that should simulate the joy of owning premium without the actual expense...

Unless you got the disc/digital download from America, then i don't think there's any other way.

To extend your analogy, if that Friday was agreed as the completion date six months in advance and you're a month behind schedule on release day then the fault is most definitely yours.

Anyway, I've probably spent more time posting here today than I have playing the actual game in the last week or two. Time to move along, undoubtedly I'll be back for another moan when the next patch completely fails to fix the issues with the game.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 271 ✭✭4Dlolz

Honestly can't see what all the moaning is about tbh....(and not just on here but in general).

I've had a pretty smooth experience with Battlefield 4 on PC thus far apart from the odd hiccup or two at launch but the game is very steady the last couple of months.

Battlefield 3 was frustrating for me to say the least though. I bought that game and can count on one hand how many hours I played it. Don't get me wrong, I loved the game but servers just wouldn't launch for love nor money. I can sympathise with the frustration being felt but this time I'm just thankful it's not me with the issues.

For me now, all this game is desperately in need of is new maps....and plenty of them. I'm not over the moon about Second Assault having played them beforehand but at this stage now I'll take anything that promises to freshen up what is becoming a bit of a bore for me.

If your on the XB1 of PC get a beta copy of Titanfall. Great fun, doesnt lag, crash and no getting shot around corners.

Sad state of affairs that I found it a novelty today that I wasnt get shot around corners or lagging

I've been playing a bit of Titanfall beta on PC. Fun enough but I'm not sure how long it would keep my attention..
That said, yes it is a relief not to have a game crashing on me or one where I might as well be shooting blanks.

Close quarters MTAR is hands down the best weapon, I run with it alot and use it to try and combat hit detection and it does work in that sense.

Example is this report , MVP on Metro running only as Recon and MTAR

I think this 2 tier society between premium and regular is hilarious. double xp this weekend if you've premium. tough t1tties if you could only afford the regular broken game.

I have premium. More fool me, given the state of the game at the moment. What did I spend my 2xp weekend doing? Kerbal space program, because the soundloop bug won't let me hit the deploy button in BF4 without crashing.

    2 tier society my arse...

Exactly, you're just a piece of sh1t on the shoe if you only paid a measly €70!
